Additional Information

A trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau is sobering and distressing, yet certainly worthwhile. Located merely an hour away from Kraków, the unsuspecting towns of Oświęcim and Brzezinka were the stage for a heartbreaking disaster. The Auschwitz-Birkenau compound represents the cruel purpose behind the Holocaust - capturing and voraciously killing millions of lives under grotesque circumstances. Initially envisioned to operate predominantly as a concentration camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau quickly escalated into an execution factory. The chilling and merciless architectural design of this extermination camp claimed the lives of an estimated 1.5 million victims.

Each year, a myriad of visitors from around the globe flock to Auschwitz to honor these casualties and ensure their stories are never forgotten. For those undertaking this journey for the first time, opting for a guided tour is highly advisable. Merely reading about it doesn’t measure up to witnessing first-hand the gas chambers and crematoria. This sobering encounter will forever be etched in your memory.

  • Please note that the maximum size of bags and backpacks allowed on the museum grounds is 30 x 20 x 10 centimeters (roughly 12 x 8 x 4 inches). You can always leave your belongings inside the bus which will be parked nearby

Krakow - Mr Shuttle experience - From pick up from Airport to return Mr Shuttle’s service was superb, friendly staff apologised for being 4 minutes late due to traffic, clean vehicles very spacious. Did the Auschwitz and Salt Mine tour with them as well great guides and lunch was good.

If I could award it double the stars allowed I would. - So pleased we booked with Mr Shuttle, so many tours are cancelled by other companies at the last minute we decided to go with this company because of their reputation for being reliable and that they certainly were. Updates on pick up time and advice on what to wear and bring were very helpful but above all of that the trip itself was amazing. You will not be disappointed if you pick them

Krakow tour with Mr Shuttle - Absolutely never write reviews but feel I should this time. Mr Shuttle proved to be an exceptionally good choice, everything from the airport transfers to the tour were done to the highest level. Topped off with very friendly and helpful drivers and a great level of punctuality which made our trip so much more stress free, especially when dealing with a group of 12 of us. Very highly recommend this company

Exceptional service - We have used mr shuttle before so felt confident to book the aushwitz trip , the driver was on time and provided exceptional service , we missed the bus connection to go to birkenau as someone in our group was using the facilities so the driver took us so we kept with the group tour . The packed lunch was lovely fresh Greek salad , fresh crusty sandwich drink etc . Would highly recommend.

Must visit - Difficult place to see but a must if visiting Krakow. Guide for the camp was extremely disappointing. Very rushed, lacking consideration for elderly or disabled. Feel more time was needed and know she skipped certain areas from seeing and hearing details of visits by others

Would be better - Very difficult to hear tour guide speech. But this is not about the guide. This is about circumstances on the site (other groups, loud floor etc.) and technique. It could be very appreciated to use "radio earphones" provided by tour operator. I saw this option in other groups, but not in our unfortunately...

Not long enough guided tour - 6.30am minivan pick up from Krakow hotel. Driver was smartly dressed and well spoken. Booked just the specific Auschwitz-Birkenau tour. Disappointed to have no documentary shown on route as mentioned on the Mr. Shuttle website. Mentioned to driver who was mystified when asked about the documentary. Instead we had pop music radio on, which I thought was inappropriate for this trip. I had to ask the driver if could kindly turn the radio off as we approached Auschwitz, which he kindly obliged. Our guide for the day was good and could not fault, but as many reviews mention of large group tours which we were part of, are a bit rushed along. Having watched further film of sites on my return, there is so many parts we did not see on our guided tour, especially at Birkenau. Rest of our group had paid to stay on for the afternoon Salt mine tour on the same day, so this seems why you just get a rushed early start for about roughly four hours at Auschwitz-Birkenau only. Trip could have been better if had that bit of a slower pace to take it all in.
