- Christ Church - Founded by King Henry VIII, this college holds a unique position in Oxford as many of its alumni went on to become world leaders in the United Kingdom, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Harry Potter fans will enjoy taking photos of the historic buildings which were filming locations for the iconic series.
- Lincoln College - With alumni such as Dr. Seuss, Edward Abraham, and former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, this college is highly regarded for its programs in English, history, biochemistry, and more.
Be sure to take a photo of the All Saints Church, which houses the college’s stunning library and is topped with one of the dreaming spires of the city.
- Radcliffe Camera - See one of the enduring symbols of the city, Radcliffe Camera. It takes its name from both the physician John Radcliffe and the Latin word ‘camera’, which means ‘room’. The 250-year-old building serves as a reading room for the nearby Bodleian.
- Bodleian Library - The Bodleian Library is one of the oldest libraries in Europe at over 400 years old. Founded by Sir Thomas Bodley, the library’s world-leading collection includes a copy of the Magna Carta, a Gutenberg Bible, and a first edition of Don Quixote.
As you look up at the Bodleian, you may hear passing scholars refer to it as ‘the Bodley’ or simply ‘the Bod’.
- Clarendon Building - This neoclassical building housed the Oxford University Press until the early 19th century. Today, the Clarendon Building is part of the Bodleian Library and is used for administrative purposes.
The building is topped with nine statues, some of which have fallen down over the centuries and were replaced with fiberglass copies. See if you can spot the statue of Lord Clarendon.
- Bridge of Sighs - This iconic skyway, also known as the Hertford Bridge, links the old and new Quadrangles of Hertford College. It’s named after the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, and while it’s not open to the public, you’ll often see students of the college crossing through.
