It is located in the Northwest coast lowland dry zone of Sri Lanka, 30 km west of Anuradhapura and 26 km north of Puttalam (about 180 km north of Colombo). Covering an area of 1,317 square kilometers (131,693 hectares), the park’s elevation ranges from 0 to 152 meters above sea level. Amazing experience with seeing SL wildlife - We really enjoyed our trip to Wilpattu and were glad we went with a guide. The company was also able to arrange a private transfer to the park for us at our request. At the beginning of the Safari our guide explained that it is not always possible to see a leopard which we appreciated as we entered the day with the right expectation. We got to see a lot of wildlife including a crocodile, bear, mongoose, toucans, buffalo, eagles, monitor lizards and more. We had a wild elephant come up to our jeep within about 5 metres. Our guide was particularly good at spotting/identifying birds and even though our package was supposed to only include water he brought fresh cut fruit and other snacks for us.

Safari Wilpattu - Everything was really easy. We decided 1 day before to do a safari and everything worked. The connection with the agency via WhatsApp was relaxed. The driver was really good and the guide was a friendly and helpful guy. Unluckily we saw "just" a lepard for 5sec and some birds... But this is nature 🤷🏽‍♀️ Would recommend this safari agency!
