Museum Al-Qur’an Al-Akbar
Bayt Al Quran Al-Akbar (Giant Al Quran Museum) is located in Palembang city, within the Pondok Pesantren Al Ihsaniyah Gandus Palembang. It features 30 chapters of the holy Al-Quran, intricately carved in Palembang’s distinctive style on wooden panels, using around 40 cubic meters of tembesu wood, costing no less than IDR 2 billion. Each panel measures 177 x 140 x 2.5 centimeters, with the total thickness, including the cover, reaching 9 meters. The Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) has acknowledged it as the largest and heaviest Al-Quran in the world.
Ampera Bridge
Ampera Bridge (Indonesian: Jembatan Ampera, meaning Mandate of People’s Suffering, a now seldom-used colloquial term for the preamble of the Constitution of Indonesia), was formerly known as Bung Karno Bridge (Indonesian: Jembatan Bung Karno, named after President Sukarno) from its opening until the 1966 De-Sukarnoization campaign. This vertical-lift bridge is located in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia, connecting the Seberang Ulu and Seberang Ilir regions of Palembang. It is no longer operable for ship passage.
Benteng Kuto Besak
Kuto Besak, also known as Benteng Kuto Besak (Indonesian for “Kuto Besak Fortress”), is an 18th-century kraton (fortified palace) in Palembang, South Sumatra. Kuto Besak was the center of the Sultanate of Palembang before its dissolution by the Dutch colonial authorities. The fort’s construction began in 1780 and took seventeen years to complete, with its inauguration in 1797 marked by the relocation of the royal residence from the older Kuto Lamo to Kuto Besak.
