Sicilian Cooking Class with Chef Michael - Chef Michael's program is a definite 5-star! This is the 2nd time we have enjoyed his cooking class. Love that he allows the customers to participate in the preparation AND cooking of the menus. Menus are well prepared and really good food! We also love that he takes us thru the market to select fresh ingredients! The BEST cooking class in Palermo! Thank you again, Chef Michael, for another great class.

Authentic Sicilian experience, highly recommend! - This cooking class is a great way to experience an authentic slice of Sicilian culture! The class starts with a walk through El Capo market which was amazing. We learnt about local ingredients, what's in season, where to buy the best vegetables, seafood, bread, olives etc. We also picked up ingredients for our cooking class including the swordfish so you know you're cooking with high quality, fresh ingredients. The cooking experience itself was great. Chef Michael is very knowledgeable, he patiently answered all our questions, taught us the basics of Sicilian cuisine and knife skills. Having only 8 people in the class (which is the max capacity) meant we were able to get a more customized experience. Together we prepared a delicious 4 course meal. We made panelle (chic pea fritters), fresh pasta, grilled swordfish and persimmon granita. The menu changes based on seasons and what is freshly available which I also loved. We all ate together with some wine and orange liquer (which was home made and delicious). At the end we received recipe cards, we have already tried the persimmon granita at home which was amazing. Very much enjoyed this experience and highly recommend it!

Perfect cooking class, look no further ! - - If I could leave this a 1000/10 review I would. This was a wonderful class full of regional and technical knowledge. We started off with a trip to the market and observed how the locals shop and how the cuisine revolves around the offerings. We made Panelle, homemade pasta with a fresh tomato sauce, swordfish meatballs and a persimmon granita. Everything was excellent. This was not only one of my favourite travel experiences but one of the best meals we had in all of Sicily. You will be rushing home to make the recipes that are thoughtfully given in a book at the end of the class. Do not bother booking any other class, THIS IS THE ONE !!!! Thank you Michael for such a wonderful experience. We would love to come back and see what another season has to offer.

A Very Enjoyable Experience - Michael and his team provided a great class featuring a fun and informative visit to the Palermo Capo Market to select the freshest ingredients. We joined a lively and engaged small group to learn great techniques to cook a wonderful meal that was then shared and enjoyed. We highly recommend Michael's Sicilian Cooking Class!

Great Cooking School Experience! - Chef Michael and his assistant Melissa took us to local street market where we planned the menu based on what looked good and fresh. From the fish to the fruit for granita desert, basil, eggplant, tomato and more, we helped decide what we were going to cook. The chef’s kitchen was close and well equipped. This is a true hands on experience. We sliced, chopped and collectively prepared our Sicilian lunch of tomato, basil and almond bruschetta on still warm from the bakery bread. We prepared fresh grouper for Polpette fish meatballs with sautéed red onion jam. Next was pasta ala Norma, a traditional Sicilian pasta dish. Desert was the fresh persimmon granita with traditional brioche. This was as an amazing cooking and lunch experience, don’t plan on having dinner! This was the highlight of our stay in Palermo!

So Much More Than Just a Cooking Class! - Our day with Michael and Alena was the highlight of our time spent in Palermo! After five minutes browsing and buying the lunch we were soon to prepare, we felt like we were friends we’ve known forever. After the market and a short walk to their charming apartment/kitchen, we began the preparation of the seafood feast from the market. Michael’s winning personality blends perfectly with his rigorous training at one of the finest culinary schools in Europe. He and Alena worked seamlessly as a team as we chatted and learned about food preparation techniques and shared life stories. The food was incredibly fresh and brilliantly prepared in Michael’s signature style which he describes as simple adherence to traditional with a laser focus on the fundamental details and principles to achieve the best outcome in his power. It was truly a transcendent afternoon for me. The food, the atmosphere and most importantly, the company of our two new friends from the Sicilian Pantry. We’ve experienced other “cooking class” events before, but this day stands alone in that category. If you visit Palermo and want to experience a wonderful afternoon, you ‘d be a fool to miss time spent with the talented people at The Sicilian Pantry!

Wonderful half day cooking class - I really enjoyed this cooking class. It was equal parts informative and fun. Not too overwhelming! The recipes are easy to follow so I know I will be able to do this meal when I get home! The team at the Sicilian Panty were so friendly and helpful. I particularly appreciated that they all joined us for the final meal and talked about their life in Sicily. Overall, it was a great day!

More than we bargained for! - We learned so much!! We take cooking classes whenever we travel, but this one was extra! We met at the market and got to pick out the ingredients together. That alone added to the experience. We then got up to a beautiful bright kitchen with lots of cool artwork and began prepping. The teams instructions were easy to follow and they answered all of our questions. We then got to sit at a nicely set table to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Highly recommend this class!

A new experience - The course began with an informative tour of the Market del Capo. The cooking school was central, professional and clean. The experience was positive and fun. An Irish chef teaching in Palermo! The dishes were very simple but quite good. One point deduction was the amount of participants. 8 instead of 4-6

A pleasant experience - The location was good. Would be on the market before. The food was simple cuisine but very well explained. Had wanted a little more activity for me. There were a little too many participants. 8 instead of 4-6 Very friendly and fun. Nice experience.
