Driver was late - When we arrived at Valencia airport there was no driver holding a sign with my name as promised. It’s a small airport and only one place where people are met. After 15 minutes searching and waiting we were forced to call the operator of the local tour. This was not a free call as it was classed as international on my U.K. tariff. I was repeatedly put on hold running up the pounds. Whilst still waiting to be taken off hold our driver arrived. We then had a straightforward 20 minute transfer to our hotel in the old city. I would not recommend this as the driver was not waiting and it was costly to chase. This defeats the object of having a driver waiting and removing hassle. I paid more for a worse service. This is the second time in a row I have had a. Problem with a Viator booked airport transfer on arrival. The last time I got a text 12 hours before cancelling as they didn’t have a driver. I got a no quibble refund from Viator but twice in a row has put me off booking another. Valencia airport has a train station with direct transfers to the old city in 20 minutes at low cost. There are plenty of taxis at the airport and rates are not expensive. Taxis did not have the reputation like in Madrid of ripping off tourists. I would take a taxi or book a transfer through my hotel direct next time.
