Approximately 40 kilometers south of Lisbon in Palmela, an amazing chance presents itself to savor the magnificent wines of the Setúbal region and appreciate the gorgeous green vistas of Arrábida Mountain. These splendid wines are cultivated on soils close to the Atlantic Ocean that are part of the massive Arrábida Mountain range. A wine expert will lead the tasting in a thoroughly casual and enthusiastic setting, discussing everything from the types of grapes harvested to the intricate wine-making process, including the treatment of the grapes in relation to sugar content, acidity, and fermentation. You’ll have the opportunity to sample various types such as the sweet and refreshing Setúbal muscatel, the liquorous Bastardo, and the uncommon boal grape variety known as White Tradition. Wines worthy of mention include the White Reserve and the Red Reserve, the latter of which is concocted in a tank using the foot-trodden method.
