• Panaji Kala Academy - Kala Academy is a prominent cultural centre run by the Government of Goa, in Goa, India. Situated at Campal, Panjim, it is registered as a society, and was started in February 1970. The building was designed by Charles Correa.
• Campal - Unlike other areas of Panaji, the Campal heritage area is unique in its nature and characteristics. The street pattern consists of a grid iron pattern and only residential houses fully self sufficient in their needs and demands. Every house is different in its character, accessible with well tarred roads, parking space and compound is housed with ornamental railings carved in stones, and a distinct construction technology used to construct these houses.

The St Inez creek joins the Mandovi River in this area and we see some of the problems created by modernization and economic growth.

Distinct from other parts of Panaji, Campal’s heritage sector boasts unique qualities and features. The neighbourhood layout is arranged in a grid pattern, with homes that are entirely self-reliant. Each dwelling has its own unique appeal, complete with well-paved roads, parking facilities, and fenced yards decorated with stone-carved ornamental railings, built using distinctive construction methods. Essentially, there’s an orderly layout with a garden (Jardin de Francisco Luis Gomes) standing out on the riverfront. Set along the Mandovi River, Campal is largely a residential neighbourhood inhabited by the economically affluent. This area is calm and peaceful, removed from the city’s bustling epicentre.
