It is a good experience to sail in the canal - The trip start from 6am. Our boat went through 2 gates of the canal. We experience how the boat were raised by the water in a few minutes inside the gates. We saw how other commercial vessels went through the canal from or enter into pacific side of the canal. The ferry also serve breakfast and lunch to us. The guides provide a lot of historical information about the canal.

Canal Dec 2024 - We did the Northbound Canal tour and it did not disappoint. We went through 3 locks which was amazing. Our tour guide has so much knowledge that it was the beast part. Providing information on the building and maintenance of the canal. The breakfast and lunch they served was also very good.

Excellent partial transit - So much of this is variable like the weather and the schedule for the day. We lucked out greatly. Beautiful weather. Hotel pickup was at 5AM and they came right on the dot. You get a breakfast of eggs and sausage with pineapple and yogurt. You also get a lunch of cold pasta salad. There were no lines to get through the canal for our tour so we actually got through miraflores by 8AM so they served lunch at 8AM. Awkward. Ideally we would’ve taken a to go box when we got off at Gamboa but they’re not set up for that. The boat was not too crowded. We got a spot right up front. For people doing the full transit, would recommend just sitting for the first half because the boat will clear out at gamboa and then you get all the railing space you want. Hotel drop off was also well coordinated. People that belong on the same bus together are given a color coded wristband. Only downside was when we got off at gamboa we had to wait 45 minutes because there was a railroad crossing that was closed. That was out of the tour company’s control. I recommend buying directly from the Panama Marine Adventures website.

Bucket list removal - The trip was well organized with wrist bands for groups when it came time for food so everyone did not rush the food tables at once. The Narrator gave a tremendous amount of information through out the trip. All the arrangements outside of the boat ride were well organized also, friendly staff and were there to help if needed. I would highly recommend this tour organization and the tour in general. One of the things you need to see. Get it off your bucket list.

Great experience, not in it for the lunch - This is a once in a lifetime experience. It was amazing to see the locks in actions and be part of the process. The only bad thing was the lunch. As a vegetarian, the lunch was very limited.

Highly recommended! See the canal in real time! - If you come to Panama and you want to see how the canal works in real time then you need to book this tour. It’s a partial tour that will take you from the southern entrance of the canal to the town of Gamboa halfway up the canal. It’s a six hour tour that starts early and ends around midday. What I liked about the tour was entering the locks and seeing how everything worked quickly and effortlessly. You see the huge doors close and seal the locks up, and it fills up with water in only 10 or 15 minutes. It’s very fast and efficient, and seeing it happen in real time is a testament to the precision and ingenuity the Canal’s engineers had almost 120 years ago. Out tour boat entered the lock with another tour boat and a full sized chemical tanker with room to spare. We were served breakfast and an early lunch (around 10:30 am). Breakfast was eggs and sausages (the cut up type, not the links), yogurt and pineapple chunks. Lunch was chicken pasta and a salad. It’s not gourmet by any means, but it was good. Our tour guide for the trip was a middle aged gentleman who I absolutely commend. I wish I could remember his name. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave us some incredible information about the canal, its history, dimensions, and how it works. He did the tour over a microphone in English, Spanish, and German. All together, I highly recommend this tour

Wow! - The overall experience was great. We enjoyed the Northbound boat trip that included closing of the locks at Miraflores. On the way the beautiful site of the bridges and natural greens and mountains. View of Panama city was the best.

Ups and downs - It was an amazing experience to be on the Panama Canal in a boat. The guide did a fantastic job explaining things and was very informative. They gave us breakfast which we weren’t expecting and lunch was very tasty. The only issue was we were supposed to disembark at 11:30 and it was 1:40 which disrupted the other plans we had made for that day.
