Excellent Tour - 100% Recommend - We had such an awesome trip and guide. He took us literally everywhere and gave us a ton of historical background on Panama...my other half and I are totally history nerds, so we were stoked. Watching a huge ship float up a lock and into the lake was a really special experience. Then going out on a boat past that ship to feed the monkeys on the island was even better. Our guide took photos and videos for us, which he emailed to our WhatsApp. That was so nice of him! I would absolutely recommend this trip!

Wonderful tour of Panama Canal and Gatun Lake - Dan Taylor was our tour guide for this adventure. We were able to book him through the Viator site. Simply put, what an absolutely wonderful tour. His spoken and written communications in both Spanish and English were exceptional. Dan was a dynamo, full of energy (in a good way), very knowledgeable about the city and its traffic, the Panama Canal, Gatineau Lake and the surrounding countryside. One thing that amazed us early on was that no matter where we went, he seemed to know everybody. Came to find out that he’s been doing this for 17 years. As such, he was able to give us a very clear historical perspective on everything that we were seeing. Having a subject matter expert tell us how the French, Americans and Panamanians developed the canal and all that it’s meant for Panama greatly added to our appreciation of both the construction and operational nuances as well as our overall enjoyment of the tour. We saw both the old channels (two; built 1903 to 1914) as well as the new addition (built 2007 to 2016). After our visit to the Canal Visitor Center and seeing a couple of ships go through the locks, we then went on a boat tour of Gatun Lake. What a treat! In addition to seeing some transiting cargo ships up close and personal, we went off into some side waterways to feed the local monkeys. What a hoot! We then returned to our vehicle for our return trip back into the city and our hotel. We were able to save quite a bit of time due to Dan’s knowledge of where all the traffic jams would be and how to navigate around them. We give Dan our unqualified recommendation as a tour guide extraordinaire for Panama. His attention to detail and his efforts ensuring that we enjoyed our tour experience to its fullest was exceptional. Well done Dan!

Tour of a lifetime - What an amazing day! Cesar offers a vast wealth of knowledge on the Panama Canal and its history. He took us to the boat We saw all kinds of wild life including three different types of monkeys. We feed the white face monkeys. We saw a sloth in the trees. This is a tour that will leave us with a lifetime of memories.

A great tour. - Seeing a huge cargo ship crossing a Panama Canal was an experience that you don’t want to miss when in Panama. Visiting monkey island on Gatum Lake was so much fun. The monkeys came on a boat, eating banana that was offered and were very gentle. Our guide, Alex was little short in speaking English, but he tried his best to explain things and made the experience very enjoyable.

Fantastic and fun tour with Dan!!! - Our guide Dan was so much fun! He knew something about everything we saw and asked about - a vast wealth of knowledge. He gave us history, restaurant recommendations, funny stories. His passion and energy level is amazing! The tour was great - very well done attraction and presentation at the Miraflores locks and visitors center. Derailed explanations and fun facts over the PA system made it all easy to understand. The boat tour of Lake Gatun was just as much fun, and very beautiful. We had so much fun seeing the different monkeys up close - chance of a lifetime! This tour is a must do,and if you can get Dan, it will be even better!!!

Mostly sitting in a car picking up people - Total was 5 hours, out of which 75% was sitting in a van shuttling around. The activities were <5 mins at the locks, after which we watched the Imax movie (pretty good, but doesn't need a tour for that), then a boat ride on the canal/lake, about an hour. That was fine, but not worth the price, let alone hours of sitting in the van. At the end, I asked to be let out and walked back to the hotel, should have done that an hour earlier.....
