- Agua Clara Locks - This unique visitor center is the only place in the Panama Canal where you can witness the expansion of the new locks and see massive vessels that can carry over 17,000 containers in a single ship. Simply amazing.
- Gatun Locks - After viewing the expanded canal, it’s time to admire the original locks of Gatun, the largest of the 1914 canal. During this drive-by, we will also see the Gatun Dam, from which Lake Gatun was created, and we will cross the Bridge of the Atlantic a couple of times. This bridge currently holds the record for the longest bridge in all of Central America.
- Fort San Lorenzo - This incredible Spanish fort overlooks the mouth of the mighty Chagres River, the most important river in the country. The fort is a UNESCO site, and visitors will learn the amazing history of this place, including the attack by the British pirate Henry Morgan during his quest to take the city of Panama on the Pacific side of the country.
Additionally, we will cross the majestic San Lorenzo National Park, where there will be a chance to search for native wildlife such as sloths, monkeys, and iguanas.
- Colon - After a great morning of exploring the old and new canal, Fort San Lorenzo, and the park, and enjoying breathtaking views of nature, it’s time to visit the harbor of Colon city, the second most important city in the country. Here, you will have the chance to have lunch on your own, with our expert guide providing great recommendations to truly taste the flavors of this city. This city has a significant Afro-Caribbean influence, so we will take you to try their famous patties (included).
