Great tour!! - This tour was amazing. We started with a Panamanian breakfast and ended, almost 7 hours later, at a local produce market, sampling unique fruits. In between we had churros, special coffees, steak, cocktails and more. The guide made sure to ask us where we had reservations so that we didn't go to those restaurants. She was flexible and had a wide range of options for us. We had a lot of fun!

You must do this tour! - This was the most amazing food tour. Our guide was incredible. Everywhere we went she knew the restaurant owners, and whatever we wanted, we got. She gave us many food options, so we set our own itinerary, and everything we ate was delicious. We did not see other tourists at any of the restaurants, so this was truly a “real Panamanian” experience. I highly recommend this trip.

Amazing! - We were 5 couples from Ottawa, Canada and WE would highly recommend this food tour. Sorhay was a wonderful, experienced tour guide. She picked us up at 10:00 am as scheduled. Our first treat of the day was a charming coffee shop where we had delicious cinnamon pancakes. We did a tour of the old town, she gave us historical information. We visited several neighborhoods with very interesting and unique restaurants. We ended the day in a charming neighborhood at Predro Medina Rum Bar. Everyone had an amazing and memorable day. Book this tour! - I love doing food tours as a way to explore a city's neighborhoods and culture. My friend and I agreed this was one of the best food tours we've ever been on. Sorhay is incredibly knowledgeable, fun, and kind. Do not hesitate to book this tour. It is worth every penny, if you want to explore real food outside of the touristy areas.

Best Food Tour Ever - This is the best food tour I've ever been on. I've been on food tours in ten countries on four continents. It's one of my favorite ways to explore a new city: you get to walk around with a local guide, see some sights, learn some history, and sample the local cuisine. What's not to like? This tour in Panama City was a little different in that our group of three had never been to Panama before, but we decided to try to make the most of a layover in Panama City by selecting inbound and outbound flights ten hours apart -- just enough to leave the airport, take this tour, and then get back again. That plan worked to perfection because of Sorhay. And if you are in Panama City for anything longer than ten hours without booking this tour, you are definitely missing out. We met Sorhay at a coffee shop in downtown Panama City about an hour and a half after our plane landed, she took us all over the city in her van, and she even dropped us off back at the airport an hour before our flight. In the interim, she curated a choose-your-own-adventure whirlwind of the highlights of Panamanian cuisine and culture. In contrast to other food tours, there is no set route. Instead, she asks questions to learn what you like, and then she tries hard to present to you the things she thinks you will enjoy the most. Here, for instance, is the list of things that we tried: (1) Dim sum and tea, which was a delicious way to learn about the significant Chinese population in Panama City. (2) A mouth-watering ceviche with mayo and green apple that was very different from any ceviche we had ever tried before. (3) Traditional Panamanian snacks, including salditas and wafer cookies. (4) Carimañolas, yuca fritters stuffed with meat and cheese and served with multiple delicious dipping sauces. (5) Exquisite local chocolate, including bonbons filled with passionfruit. (6) Tuna carpaccio that we would happily eat every day, as well as mondongo, a Panamanian version of menudo. (7) High-concept chicharrones at a fancy restaurant. (8) Excellent tropical cocktails at a bar with amazing jungle-themed decor. (9) Geisha coffee, the world's most expensive coffee. (10) Churros, some of which had been stuffed with flavors like caramel and apple cinnamon. (11) The piece de resistance, a fruit market where we tried the famous Panamanian pineapple, local delicacies, and then the highlight that we'll never forget: a passionfruit cut open, topped with local rum, and scooped out with fresh pineapple. It's the combination you didn't know you needed in your life. Along the way, she found sloths hanging in the jungle and arranged for a history tour of Casco Viejo, the Old Town of Panama City. We went into cathedrals that helped to tell the history of Spanish colonization and Panamanian independence, and we saw a nativity scene the size of a New York City apartment. I cannot imagine wringing any more out of our short window in Panama than we did. I now think much more highly of Panama, about which I knew very little, and would definitely be willing to go back. And if I did, I would probably take this tour all over again and just choose a different adventure. We wouldn't have to repeat anything. And Sorhay is insightful and hilarious, so it would once again be a highlight of the trip. As it is, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. You should absolutely do it. You might want to do it twice. And you should definitely take any other tours you can with Sorhay. Thanks very much for an experience we'll never forget -- it's only been a week and I'm already missing that pineapple!
