Situated 2730 m above sea level, the deep waters of Prashar Lake are venerated on account of the sage Prashar who is believed to have meditated there. The lake’s breathtaking ambience is enhanced by the surrounding snow-capped mountains and a floating island within it, a rare natural marvel seen across the globe. This drifting land mass changes direction all over the lake, occupying 7% of the lake’s overall area with the remaining 93% being water. A temple erected in the 13th century stands nearby, reportedly built from a single tree. A distinct feature of the lake is another floating island, the depth of which remains unknown as divers have been unable to measure it.
