It began to thrive in the 5th century AD, expanding significantly to cover much of the elevated area. The city featured temples, fortresses, and large mansions for its wealthiest inhabitants.
- Panjakent Bazaar - The Panjakent market is lively, with a rush of floral-clad women in headscarves moving through the ornate gate. The morning hustle is evident as plastic bags are filled with fruits, vegetables, nuts, and sweets.
