Tombs of the Kings - Located just two kilometers from Paphos Harbour, the remarkable necropolis known as the Tombs of the Kings has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980. In its arid landscape, the only sounds are the waves crashing against the rocks. The Tombs of the Kings feature a collection of well-preserved underground tombs and chambers used by the inhabitants of Nea Pafos during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Inspired by ancient Egyptian customs, these tombs resemble houses for the living. Despite their name, they were not used by royalty; the title comes from their majestic appearance. Carved into the native rock, the seven excavated tombs are spread over a large area, with burial chambers opening onto a peristyle. Other tombs have niches built into the walls where bodies were placed. These tombs have been known and explored for centuries, with many discoveries made through systematic excavations. Unfortunately, much information about the tombs has been lost over time.

Paphos Harbour Castle - Majestically situated at the west end of the town’s harbour, Pafos (Paphos) Castle, also known as the Medieval Fort, was initially a Byzantine fort built to protect the harbour. It was reconstructed by the Lusignans in the 13th century, dismantled by the Venetians, and later rebuilt by the Ottomans in the 16th century after they conquered the island. The current structure is the 1592 Ottoman restoration of the western Frankish tower with Venetian additions. An inscription above the castle’s only entrance attests to this restoration.
The main structure of the castle is a large square tower with an enclosed courtyard at its center. The ground floor features a central hall with small rooms on each of its two long sides, which served as prison cells during Ottoman rule. The roof has 12 battlements, which once housed an equal number of cannons. The Ottomans removed the cannons in 1878 when they transferred the island’s administration to the British.
- Kato Paphos Archaeological Park - The Archaeological Park of Kato Pafos (Paphos) is one of Cyprus’s most significant archaeological sites and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980.
Nicocles, the last King of Palaipafos, relocated the city to its current location near the harbour at the end of the 4th century BC. Between the 2nd century BC and the 4th century AD, Pafos served as the capital city of Cyprus.
The Park encompasses sites and monuments from the 4th century BC to the Middle Ages, with most remains dating to the Roman period. The intricate mosaic floors of four Roman villas (the houses of Dionysos, Theseus, Aion, and Orpheus) form the impressive centerpiece of the discoveries, depicting various scenes from Greek mythology. The complex also includes other significant monuments, such as the Asklepieion, the Odeon, the Agora, the Saranta Kolones (Forty Columns) Castle, the Limeniotissa ruins of an Early Christian Basilica, and the Tombs of the Kings.

St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church - The journey to Christendom begins in 45 AD in Pafos, when the Apostles Paul and Barnabas visited the island and the then capital of Cyprus. Accompanied by the Evangelist John Mark on their missionary journey, both Paul and Barnabas encountered challenges in preaching the gospel to the gentiles. Notably, Paul was flogged before Roman Governor Sergius Paulus in an attempt to convert the ruler. Legend has it that the Apostle was tied to a stone pillar and received thirty-nine lashes for evangelizing Christianity in Pafos. He ultimately succeeded in his mission, making Cyprus one of the world’s first Christian states.
