Fun cooking class in Paris - Today we went to Le Foodist for a fun cooking class with our teacher Chef Luc. First we visited a farmers market to buy the ingredients for our lunch. We also Stopped by for a taste of cheese & baguette & to learn about different types of cheese. When we got back, we divided the work and started preparing our ingredients. With teamwork and Luc’s direction, we made a delicious lunch, complete with French wine. Merçi Chef for a great day in Paris!

BEST FRENCH EXPERIENCE- NOT JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO COOK! - The Le Foodist market visit and lunch class should be on everyone’s Paris to do list. At the market we learned about French produce and the value of knowing where your food is coming from. We got a super interesting cheese lesson as we picked up what we would need for our French onion soup and the rest of our menu. Back at Le Foodist our group, small in size and already chummy from the market visit, donned our aprons and experienced what it is like to create a beautiful French meal. Rather than a boring class where everyone attempts every step, we found ourselves awash in the excitement of the kitchen with Chef Fred asking who wants to cut onions [I did, and learned how to easily do so without crying] and who wants to poach pears and who wants to do this or that... We all became junior sous chefs, and were instructed how to do whatever task we chose. It is amazing how we all busily worked on our own, while still feeling confident that we had the Chef’s eye, able to get help when needed. We enjoyed the fruits of our labor at a stunningly set table in the beautiful Le Foodist space, and were joined by Chef Fred for the meal. This was the biggest delight for me because Fred is engaging, and super knowledgeable about France, its history, its customs and of course, its cuisine. He also wanted to know about everyone in the group and kept conversation flowing [as did wine of course]. It truly felt as if we were invited to his home to enjoy an exquisite meal. At the end of the afternoon I learned that Le Foodist did one-week destination vacations, and having looked at their website I vowed that I would be back to experience the Loire Valley with Le Foodist to celebrate my next birthday. Until then, I enjoyed making the recipes he shared with us for vegetarian French onion soup, salmon, ratatouille and poached pear with vanilla ice cream

Not to be missed! - My visit to Le Foodist for a market visit and cooking class with Chef Luc was an absolutely delightful experience. We began our day at the meeting point, enjoying coffee, tea, and croissants while waiting for everyone to arrive. Once gathered, we walked to the market together, where Chef Luc provided an insightful explanation of the organic food labeling system and pointed out which stalls to avoid. One of the highlights was our stop at the fromagerie, where we received a fascinating crash course in the history of French cheese. Back at the kitchen, Chef Luc, with his Michelin star restaurant experience, gave us a behind-the-scenes look at how a restaurant kitchen operates. He meticulously explained how to prepare each component of our meal and then assigned tasks to everyone. Our group of 12 successfully prepared a delicious meal consisting of cauliflower soup with mussels (Potage Dubarry), potatoes and cream, a vegetable medley, cheater Coq au Vin in a red wine sauce, and a delightful tarte tatin for dessert. This experience was an excellent introduction to our Parisian vacation, providing both a fun and educational culinary adventure. Chef Luc's expertise and engaging teaching style made this cooking class truly unforgettable.

100% recommend - was a great morning! - My husband and I had an amazing market visit and cooking class with Paulo! The information he shared, his passion for food and cooking, and his patience with teaching us the recipes and techniques were incredible. He’d been a professional chef with his own restaurant and it showed. The lunch (and some lovely wines to accompany it) was delicious and the company of the others in the class was also fantastic!
