Highlights
  • Fondation Claude Monet - Begin your day by boarding your comfortable, air-conditioned private bus in central Paris. Once inside, you’ll meet your tour co-ordinator, a local expert who’ll accompany you throughout your trip to provide you with insights and stories about the sites you’ll visit.

Your first stop is the Fondation Claude Monet in the village of Giverny. After a brief but fact-packed orientation tour, you’ll be free to explore the Impressionist master’s estate at your leisure using a convenient self-guided audio app. The house has been restored to how it was when Monet himself lived and worked there, and many features of the estate are familiar from his great works – like the ponds carpeted in luscious water lilies.

  • Palace of Versailles - Then it’s a short bus ride from Giverny to Versailles, where an official palace guide will escort you past the line, directly into the Sun King’s opulent seat of power. With over 700 rooms and 2,000 acres of gardens, Versailles is magnificent inside and out. You’ll see highlights like the Hall of Mirrors and Salon of Abundance, fountains and secret garden groves, and an art collection to rival the finest museums. In keeping with the surroundings, the royals and courtiers who populated Versailles at its height were larger than life; your guide will share some of the wildest moments of the palace’s history.

  • Jardins du Chateau de Versailles - After your guided visit of the inside of the Palace of Versailles, you will be taken to the extravagant gardens of Versailles. Here, you have the freedom to explore at your own pace, wandering along the canal, marveling at the fountains, and enjoying the final part of the tour at your own will

Worth it - Giverny was absolute beautiful. I highly recommend this tour. The weather and gardens were perfect. Much more beautiful than I imagined. The weather turned as we got to Versailles. Super opulent, almost overwhelming. I was unable to explore the gardens as I would have liked, but I did enjoy a delicious cup of hot chocolate.

Liz is lovely! - Even though my group left our accommodation in plenty of time, our Uber driver got lost on our way to the meeting point. Unfortunately, we were a little late, so the bus had already left, but Liz had it circle around to pick us up, which meant a lot because it was our last day in Paris and we couldn’t reschedule the tour. Liz is a thoughtful and knowledgeable guide. Her recall about Monet is impressive, and she has helpful suggestions for food, activities, etc. We had a wonderful day with her!

Must Do while in Paris - A trip to Paris, without a visit to Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny and a visit to Versailles, is incomplete. For a first time visit, I highly recommend this full day City Wonders tour. Both stops were spectacular and we had a wonderful day exploring both locations. Yes, the RER can easily be taken from Paris to Vernon and then take a bus/shuttle to Giverny and then reverse to take the RER back to Paris for a train change to Versailles is absolutely doable and can save you some money; however, this tour is nice because you don’t have to worry about the transportation and the tickets to enter both locations without waiting in lines is included in your cost.

Great day trip! - This was a great way to spend a day seeing two of the "must-see" outside Paris locations. The tour ran very smoothly, the guides were friendly and helpful, and the tour provided everything exactly as advertised. We had plenty of time in both locations, including enough time to grab lunch in Giverny.

Tale of Two Cities - This tour is clearly broken into two parts. The morning was spent at Giverny. The gardens were spectacular. I can't describe how beautiful they were. But they were really crowded, and we were then in mid-September--not the high season. It was self-guided, but our guide spent the hour+ drive telling us all about Monet and Giverny. The afternoon was at Versailles. It was beautiful, as well, but in a really gaudy over-the-top way. The guide was with us through the house. But it was beyond crowded. It reminded me of Times Square on New Year's Eve. And again, this was the off-season. We were spellbound by the elaborate decorations of the house, but happy to get out of the crowd. We found the gardens much more enjoyable. It was a self-guided tour. Be sure to pick up a map with the suggested pathway for a tour. The gardens are huge and you will miss beautiful things without a map.

Sat Visit - Giverny’s Monet’s house & gardens was enjoyable. The Palace was a nightmare. Way too crowded. Guide never showed for return trip, bus late, then took off no head count and people standing!
