• Montmartre - Uncover the rich history of Montmartre as we ascend its hills, starting at the base where the iconic windmill of the Moulin Rouge still turns. Wander up the charming cobbled streets to find the former homes of artists like Van Gogh and Picasso. At the top, visit the stunning white basilica of Sacré Coeur and capture breathtaking views of Paris from one of its highest points. Fans of the film Amélie will feel a special connection to this area, as much of the movie was shot here. Highlights of Montmartre typically include the Moulin Rouge, Sacré Coeur Cathedral (with time to explore inside), Place Dalida, Moulin de la Galette, Vincent Van Gogh’s house, The Artists’ Square, and Amélie Café. Consider an evening tour to possibly catch a sunset over the city, depending on the season.
• Moulin Rouge - From our meeting point, we will head to the famous Moulin Rouge, a cabaret known for its diverse entertainment and as a muse for artists like Auguste Renoir.
• Van Gogh’s House - Next, we will visit Van Gogh’s house on Rue Lepic, where the artist and his brother lived from 1886.
• Dalida Statue - We will then walk through Place Dalida, a square dedicated to the French music icon Dalida, where fans and tourists still come to pay their respects.
• Jardin Sauvage de St-Vincent - Stroll past the Jardin Sauvage de St-Vincent, a piece of land left in its natural state to observe its ecosystem, biodiversity, and wild plants, overrun by elderberry trees, ivy, and wild insects.
• Le Clos Montmartre - We will then head to Le Clos Montmartre, a hidden vineyard behind the Sacré-Coeur, one of the last remaining in central Paris.
• Au Lapin Agile - Next, we will visit Le Lapin Agile, a cabaret that was the hub for the Montmartre Bohemian set until 1914, with its iconic sign still a symbol of Montmartre.
• Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre - We will then proceed to the renowned Basilica Sacré-Coeur, a Roman Catholic church completed in 1914, featuring one of the world’s largest mosaics depicting Jesus Christ.
• Place du Tertre - Afterward, we will pass by Place du Tertre, a square near the Sacré-Coeur where artists set up their easels daily, reminiscent of Montmartre’s artistic past.
• Dali Paris - Next, we will pass by Espace Dali, a museum with around 300 original artworks, dedicated to Salvador Dali’s sculptures and engravings.
• Le Bateau-Lavoir - We will then see the Bateau-Lavoir, a famous hub for artistic creation in Montmartre, known as an artist’s residence and meeting place since 1889.
• La Maison de Dalida - We will also see La Maison de Dalida, the home of the icon from 1962 to 1987, and the place where she tragically ended her life.
• Place des Abbesses - Near the end of the tour, we will head to the Abbesse metro station, a masterpiece of Art Nouveau architecture designed by Hector Guimard, and one of the two remaining entrances of its kind in Paris.
