Additional Information

Embark on a Culinary Journey in one of the most genuine and vibrant regions of Paris, away from the typical tourist spots!

Kick off your adventure at the iconic Place de la Bastille, a symbol of the French revolution, nestled in the 12th district, near the Seine River and Marais neighborhood. Savour a traditional Parisian breakfast here, before proceeding to the Aligre Market through the countless (and somewhat secretive) lanes that make this area so stylish and imaginative.

The Aligre Market enjoys widespread popularity among Parisian food lovers. It functions every day (except Mondays) where the vendors greet you right on the streets surrounding Aligre square. It’s an exceptional blend of food vendors (both indoors and outdoors) and vintage goods sellers, half food market, half flea market.

The array of stores encompassing this market, dedicated to the art of fine cooking, attracts food enthusiasts from across the globe, who admire its variety and abundance.

A fabulous Parisian experience - Dorine was a superb and knowledgeable guide and we were fortunate to be part of a group of only one other couple which made the experience easy and intimate. The venues visited were of a really high standard snd the food and drink delicious! Highly recommended!

Lots to Enjoy in the Bastille - We had a fantastic time exploring the markets of Bastille and sampling croissant, coffee, cheese, wine and sausages. The highlight was the guide Arthur who was very knowledgeable & easygoing as well as the configure tasting who thought cherry & Kalamata olives would be so good! Highly recommend this food tasting tour.

Behind the scenes food tour - Wonderful tour with Arthur. My friend and I enjoyed visiting the oldest market in Paris and wandering off the beaten path. We truly visited establishments for locals. I recommend this if you want to see more of the local foodie scene.

Terrific Market Tour - This was a terrific time. We were on the Bastille Market Tour (which, as it turns out, doesn't have much to do with Bastille but is the wonderful D'Aligre Market ). Our guide Nick was terrific. We not only got good food, we learned all kinds of things about life in Paris. One of the highlights of our Paris stay. One small warning: the toilet facilities are, at best, minimal. Three hours with food and drink can get long....

Fun at Montmartre - My tour was canceled last minute due to an unpredictable event. Nonetheless the agency immediately reached out to me with the urgency required and offered me alternatives. I ended up going to Montmartre with our guide Margaux. She was very nice and our group had so much fun venturing into shops to try each of the foods carefully selected by the agency. I highly recommend this tour!

Overpriced silliness - I have lived in this neighborhood near the market for 20 years now. One : - to pay 75€ a head and 70€ for children is pure unethical behaviour IMO. Two : - as a resident and an American many of these guides are telling misleading or incorrect information. I often have pointed this out Three : - the covered market is NOT a museum. Many people do not buy anything. If you back in the US for instance ran out to 7/11 because you forgot butter during lunch and instead of being able to get to the dairy section you were blocked by thirty people standing in front of the products, making them totally inaccessible, well how would you feel? I think as part of local government, sadly we will have to restrict access to tourists to this covered market, at least as Venise has done or recently Kyoto. Tourism yes, but respect for the residents.
