Interesting Paris after dark walking tour - This was a very good way to better understand the darker side of Paris. Our guide, Thelma, took us to numerous spots related to death, murder or executions. Doing this at night added to the experience

Recommended - It was fun and very interesting. The guide knew a lot and was also very sympathetic. I've done this before, but I've almost only learned new things. Thank you again.

Lovely Walk, Guide Could Have Been More Engaging - The route itself was well chosen, with a nice balance of old and modern Parisian history. It was a pleasant walk through interesting parts of the city. However, I found the guiding experience uneven. The guide spoke quite softly, which made it difficult to follow at times, especially with city noise. She tended to keep moving ahead between stops without checking that everyone was still with her. A few times, half the group was left waiting at a red light while she continued walking, so several of us had to jog to catch up once the light changed. The tour ended around 1 hour and 25 minutes instead of the advertised two hours. That wasn’t an issue in itself, but it contributed to a slightly rushed feeling. The stories she shared varied in quality — some were engaging, but others felt less researched or lacked depth. Paris has such a rich, sometimes spooky history, and I felt the storytelling could have captured more of that atmosphere. Overall, it was a nice walk with some interesting moments, but the experience would have been stronger with clearer communication, more group awareness, and a bit more passion in the delivery.

Okay for the Price - Sophia was our guide. It was okay. Positives: 1. It's cheap. At only 15 euros, it's very reasonably priced for such a lengthy tour. 2. It's lengthy. About two hours of walking and heaing historical anecdotes. 3. Sophia covers quite a bit of history, many hidden gems you wouldn't necessarily know about unless you specifically sought them out. 4. There's decent variety, not just beheadings, not just riots, a decent mix of all kinds of things. Negatives: 1. Not necessarily Sophia's fault, but I already knew about a third of the information, so didn't learn as much as I'd hoped. 2. Sophia could have been a bit more engaging. She only interacted with a few of us and so the experience largely ended up being her talking at us rather than with us. 3. There are long stretches of literally nothing happening but walking between interest points. Suggestions: 1. I suggest Sophia or her supervisors devise some sort of connective tissue between points, something to tide us over. It could be anything from regular social interaction "What brings you to Paris?" to mini-stories, trivia, etc. that may not be specifically tied to one spot. 2. While there was some narrative variety, I feel like there could have been much more. Sophia took us to Hotel de Ville and didn't mention La Voisin. A convicted witch and poisoner who rocketed to the top of French society only to be burned at the stake? Perfect ender! 3. Along the same lines, with a subtitle containing "ghosts," you'd think there would have been less about Henry IV and more about... ghosts. 4. While this isn't a food tour, I suggest welcoming guests with maybe a macaron. Something for them to focus on while everyone arrives. You can pick up a box at Erik Kayser for like $5. 5. I suggest altering the route to place interest points in a more logically successive line, that'd also cut down on empty travel time. Overall, I'd recommend the experience only to first-timers who've never been to Paris before and know nothing of its history. If you've even been here a week, you probably know most of it. If you're a connoisseur of the macabre, give it a pass.
