It stands by the western (downstream) point of the ‘le de la Cité, the island in the middle of the river that was, between 250 and 225 BC, the birthplace of Paris, then known as Lutetia and, during the medieval period, the heart of the city.

Cross the Seine river back to the right bank passing the City Hall (Hotel de Ville) and the stunning gothic Tour Saint Jacques, before making your way to the quirky Stravinsky Fontaine. Take a break at a crepe house to indulge in some scrumptious French crêpes. Subsequently, take the metro for 3 stops to the Louvre area. Here, you’ll experience the Royal Palace gardens, the charming Galerie Vivienne with its quaint boutiques and mosaic floor, and the extraordinary oval room in the National Library building. From here, you’ll circle back to the Louvre, where you will gain entry with your skip-the-line tickets.
