A Tremendous Tour With the Right Balance and Opportunity for Discovery - This was a tremendous tour of Verdun and the Meuse-Argonne battlefield of the American offensive in 1918. My wife and I were on a private tour with Regis - it began when he picked us up on time, early in the morning in Paris. We were dropped off in the evening back at our Paris hotel after a day filled with great experiences. We visited the village of Verdun and the Voie Sacree, among other sites. Regis also took us on a tour of the excellent museum at Verdun but gave us time to tour other areas of this extensive museum on our own, followed with lunch in the museum cafeteria. We moved on to the solemn Douaumont Ossuary (Memorial Cemetery) and Fort Douaumont, which were worth the trip just by themselves. Then on to the Meuse battlefield and visits to the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and the Montfaucon American Monument. We visited the town where Harry Truman and George Patton fought and then an off-the-beaten area of the Argonne Forest where Regis' great grandfather had been wounded in 1915 and where the trenches were still in very good shape from over 100 years ago. Spending time deep in the Argonne was very special for us. My wife, who was not familiar with WW1 history, enjoyed the tour as much as I did. His English is excellent and he provided bits of interesting history from other eras for the areas we toured. The countryside is spectacularly beautiful in that part of France which further enhanced the tour. One final note: Regis did not hover over us - he knew how to balance being a guide, historian, and photographer with how to point us in the right direction to explore and learn on our own. He has a good sense of humor, too. We are interested in a tour of the Somme in the future and we will definitely choose Adrian Roads if we make the trip.

Impactful to learn of the humanity of war - This was the highlight of our time in France. My grandfather fought in WWI (American) in Verdun and our father wanted to stand in the place his father stood. We planned our entire trip to Europe based on this tour. Regis was a fantastic guide and provided incredible insight to the human lives involved in the war. Once he learned of our family’s involvement, he catered specific details to include where my grandfather would have marched through and stayed during the war. The cemeteries, memorials, church ruins, trenches, forest, and museum made the battle relevant as we learned of soldiers who fought, died, and survived. Taking time to allow us a special moment to honor my grandfather meant so much to us and remains our favorite part of our experience.Thank you, Regis, for making this tour so special. We appreciate you.

Great trip and Guide - This was amazing tour of Verdun, Argonne Forest, and American Cemetery. We also we able to a lot to honor the French and German soldiers who were lost too. Regis, our guide was amazing. He took extra time to show us, more than what the tour called for. Fort Douaumont, Towns that were wiped off the map. He showed us an amazing private museum, better than any government museums. I highly recommend this tour with Regis. Earlier that week we went on different tour with another guide. Not the same, Regis really loves to show you everything, takes his time, and his knowledge and little antidotes about the battles and war is TOP Notch. He also tells the story us many soldiers that are buried in the cemeteries. Which really brings it home.
