Highlights

Thimphu-Paro

Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge - On the way, stop at Tachoggang, a picturesque and historic site across the Paro River. The iron bridge, adorned with numerous prayer flags, offers a beautiful walk towards the temple. Both the temple and the bridge hold significant historical importance.

Simtokha Dzong - Located five miles from Thimphu on a high ridge, Simtokha Dzong is one of the oldest fortresses in the Kingdom.

Tashichho Dzong (Thimpu Dzong) - In the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong, an impressive fortress that houses the secretariat building, the throne room of His Majesty the King, and various government offices. It also serves as the summer residence of the Chief Abbot and the central monk body. Witness the Flag lowering ceremony before entering the Dzong.

Thimphu Sightseeing

Buddha Dordenma - Drive to Kuensel Phodrang to visit the World’s Largest Sitting Buddha. Apart from the blessed view, it serves as a perfect vantage point to enjoy the breathtaking view of the valley below. Enjoy the picturesque view of the city sprawled beneath.

Thimphu Chorten (Memorial Chorten) - Visit the National Memorial Chorten, envisioned by the third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, as a monument to world peace and prosperity. Completed in 1974 after his untimely death, it serves as both a memorial to the Late King (the father of modern Bhutan) and a monument to world peace. The paintings and statues inside provide deep insights into Buddhist philosophy.

Bhutan Post Office Headquarters - The General Post Office is a wonderful place to learn about the postal system and its history. Enjoy making a postage stamp with your own picture, which can be posted within Bhutan.

Sangaygang - Standing tall on the western side of Thimphu, Wangdi Tse is one of the oldest temples in Thimphu. A beautiful hike of about an hour and a half through a quiet pine forest can be refreshing in the evening. The hike will take you through a deep pine forest where you can hear the chirping of birds. At certain angles, you can have a grand view of Thimphu valley and the glorious Tashicho Dzong.

THIMPHU-PUNAKHA (71 KM/3 HOURS)

Dochula Pass - Drive up to Dochula Pass (3,088m/10,130ft) early in the morning to watch the sunrise. Stop briefly to take in the view and admire the 108 chortens, mani wall, and prayer flags that decorate the highest point on the road. If the skies are clear, the high Himalayan peaks towards the northeast will be revealed in all their glory. On a clear day, you can see the following peaks from this pass (left to right): Masagang (7,158m), Tsendegang (6,960m), Terigang (7,060m), Jejegangphugang (7,158m), Kangphugang (7,170m), Zongaphugang (7,060m), a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana, and finally, Gangkar Puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan at 7,497m.

Chimi Lhakhang Temple - Hike to Chimi Lhakhang through a pleasant walk along the rice fields and farmhouses. The temple was built by Lama Nawang Chogyel in 1499 after the site was blessed by Drukpa Kunley, the divine madman. The monastery houses the original wooden symbol of the phallus that Kunley brought from Tibet. Today, it is a popular temple where barren women come to pray for a child. The temple is popularly known as the Fertility Temple.

Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery - Drive to the nunnery (Sangchhen Lhuendrup Nunnery) viewpoint to enjoy views of Punakha and Wangdue valleys. Witness the evening prayer, and if you wish, you can participate in incense and butter lamp offerings. The company can arrange the offering for you at no extra charge.

DAY 04: PUNAKHA SIGHTSEEING, DRIVE TO GANGTEY (3 HOURS)

Punakha Dzong - Visit Punakha Dzong, a massive structure built at the junction of two rivers. Punakha was Bhutan’s capital until 1955, and Punakha Dzong still serves as the winter residence of the central monk body. Bhutan’s first king, Ugyen Wangchuck, was crowned here in 1907. The fortress has withstood damage from fire, earthquake, and flood over the centuries. The latest flood, in October 1994, caused great damage to the fortress but miraculously spared its most holy statue.

Punakha Suspension Bridge - The 160-meter Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, offering spectacular views of Punakha Dzong and the Pho Chhu Valley.

Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten - Take a mild hike to Khamsum Yulley, where you will be greeted by beautiful paddy fields. Once at Khamsum Yulley, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Punakha valley.

Phobjikha Valley - Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley) is known for its scenic splendor and cultural uniqueness. Phobjikha is well known as the winter home of the Black-Necked Cranes (Grus Nigricollis), which migrate from the Tibetan plateau. The birds can be observed from early November to the end of March. Overlooking the valley is the Gangtey Goenpa. You may reach Gangtey in the evening. On the first day, you can relax and enjoy the scenic beauty and tranquility of Gangtey valley.

DAY 05: GANGTEY SIGHTSEEING, GANGTEY-PARO (200 KM/7 HOURS)

Gangtey Monastery - Gangtey Nature Trail Hike: The most beautiful and shortest of the existing nature trails in Bhutan. The trail hike starts from the Mani (like Chhorten) stone wall to the north of the Gangtey Goenpa and ends in Khewa Lhakhang. The hike takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes through the pine forest and small bamboo plants. You can see the Phobjikha valley beautifully from this hike. It is one of the best hiking places for nature lovers. During the winter months, you can see the endangered Black-Necked Cranes.

Namgay Artisanal Brewery - Visit Namgay Artisanal Brewery in an authentic Bhutanese setup and try different flavors of local beer.

DAY 06: PARO TAKTSHANG HIKE (4-6 HOURS)

Paro Taktsang - Hike to Taktshang Monastery, one of the holiest and most beautiful sites in Bhutan. Taktshang, the tiger’s lair, gets its name from the legend of its foundation. In the 8th century, Guru Rimpoche, widely revered as the second Buddha, arrived from Tibet flying across the mountains on the back of a tigress.

Rinpung Dzong - In the evening, visit Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, to watch the evening sunrise.

Kyichu Lhakhang - One of the oldest and most sacred monasteries in Bhutan, its construction dates back to the 7th century by Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gyelpo.

DAY 07: DEPARTURE

Drukgyel Dzong - If your flight is after lunch, visit Drukgyel Dzong. Built in 1649 to commemorate the victory of the Bhutanese over the allied Tibetan-Mongolian forces, the Dzong as a defense fortress is said to have housed the finest armory in the country. Amazing trip in Bhutan - Bhutan is an impressive country in the middle of the Himalayas, frozen in time. We had a wonderful time. Our guide Ugyaen and driver Jigme were very very kind and polite. We did a very complete tour of 6 nights and 7 days. Most spectacular were the Punakha dzong, Tiger Nest in Paro, and the temples in Thimphu. If you are short on time, I would recommend skipping Phobjikha Valley, which is very far and not that impressive. We were fortunate to see many monks and nuns and appreciate their way of life up close. First at Buddha Dordenma Statue we met hundreds of monks because it was a holiday. We then went to a nunnery where we were able to witness an afternoon ritual with prayers and chants, and finally a ceremony at one of the Tiger Nest temples. An incredible trip, very authentic and spiritual. I highly recommend it

Bespoke Honeymoon tour - We had an amazing 14 day tour through Bhutan best inbound for our honeymoon! On arrival our guide Tenzin asked about our interests and what we wanted from the tour and adapted it as we went along. His knowledge of the country and easy going character made the trip hassle free, he went above and beyond to give us the time of our lives from a extra suprise organising a motorbike for 3 days to waking up at the crack of dawn to search out black neck cranes for us! And a special thanks to our drivers Pema and Tandin for getting us around safely. Bhutan best inbound were really accommodating and helped us plan the trip down to the day fitting in wildlife watching in Manas park as well. There is no doubt that we will be back again! and using Bhutan best inbound for our trip planning. Nat and Alice

Great trip to Bhutan - Our trip to Bhutan with Best Bhutan Inbound was amazing! Our guide Namgay and driver Tenzin made the trip really great - they were both very friendly and made sure we had an itinerary that included everything we wanted to do. I really appreciated the effort they put into our trip, and their flexibility in changing or adding some activities based on our preferences. We were interested in seeing a local market, so they found us one. We wanted to check out archery, so they found us a place to practice with a bow and arrow. We wanted to see animals, so they took us to a reserve with takins. In addition, Namgay was extremely informative and always took the time to answer our questions about any sites we visited. We never felt rushed, and had some downtime in addition to activities. Before the trip, I spent a lot of time emailing with Thinley at Best Bhutan Inbound about our trip. Thinley was extremely responsive, friendly, and helpful and I really enjoyed working with him as well! He even gave us a gift once we got to Bhutan, which was very thoughtful. I would recommend Best Bhutan Inbound, as well as Thinley, Namgay, and Tenzin!

Great tour of western Bhutan - We had a great time on our tour! We visited the western part of the country, the cities of Thimphu, Punaka, and Paro. Though we visited only a small part of the country, we felt that we were able to experience the culture and learn some of the traditions. We did a few short hikes, saw many temples and dzong, and enjoyed excellent food. Our guide, Namgay, and our driver, Tenzin, took great care of us. They were very communicative in regards to timing & planning, and they both spoke clear and fluent English. We appreciated that they were flexible to our interests, and they suggested a few activities like going to a vegetable market once they saw my curiosity about the cuisine of Bhutan. They were friendly and very accommodating, making sure we stayed well hydrated and well fed. Namgay had a wealth of knowledge and would do research in the evenings if there were questions he didn't know the answer to. Tenzin was an excellent driver, we felt very safe and comfortable with him navigating the winding roads of Bhutan. Bhutan Best Inbound Tours was well organized and booked us good hotels. We felt comfortable in each hotel and overall had a smooth trip thanks to their planning. Note that while each hotel was comfortable, clean, and accommodating, hot water and room heat were not always readily available. Overall, we recommend Bhutan Best Inbound Tours and touring with Namgay and Tenzin!

Honeymooning in Bhutan - Me and my husband visited Bhutan during our honeymoon, and our experience was extraordinary thanks to Inbound Tours as well as our guide Sangay and our driver Sonam. We highly recommend them for any tour in Bhutan. We visited Thimphu, Paro and Punakha during our 4 night/5 day stay. The schedule was thoughtfully planned and very well executed. We got to experience the nature, local culture, cuisine and visit highlights such as the Tigers Nest during the stay. Hotels and food held a very good standard, and left us feeling like we got great value for the money spent. The vehicle was comfortable and our guides were always prepared to assist us, always thinking ahead and anticipating our needs. Our guide Sangay was very knowledgeable and him, together with Sonam, made the excursions hikes not only interesting but also fun. Any question you have about the country, they’ll answer. We didn’t have to ask for help with things, instead they would anticipate the need and provide help before we even requested it. Additionally, Inbound Tours helped us a lot in quickly getting the Bhutanese visa - they made the trip possible. Excellent service! I cannot recommend them enough, we are so thankful for all the team for making this the best trip of our lives and look forward to using their service again on our next trip to Bhutan.

Could my trip be any better?!! - I was visiting Bhutan for the second time. The first time was with my friends and this time it was to be with my wife. The choice of hotels were to be impeccable and the trip had to be perfect. And this is when I came across Bhutan Best Inbound and Thinley. I had contacted multiple local Bhutan tour agencies and this agency was just super-prompt and ever responsive. Starting from planning the itinerary to selecting hotels, vehicle, etc., everything was accommodated by them without any hesitation and with lots of constructive suggestions. Our trip started on Feb 09 and we were picked up by Mr. Wangchuk (Guide) and Mr. Pema (Chauffeur) and were very warm throughout our trip. At no point during out trip we felt disappointed. Our visit was a 7D/6N trip and we visited Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey valley and Paro. Our guide Mr. Wangchuk accompanied us to all the places and explained us everything in detail. All accomodations were just perfect (with exceptional views) and delicious food. Overall, the trip was just perfect thanks to Thinley, Wangchuk and Pema. I would strongly recommend Bhutan Inbound for anyone planning a trip to Bhutan.

Wonderful Holiday With Bhutan Inbound Tour - Me and my husband had booked a tour with Bhutan Best Inbound Tour. Ms. Geeta was a focal person from Bhutan Inbound who arranged our tour. The tour went without a single hiccups from the time we were picked up from Paro International Airport till the drop. Our guide Namgay was superb and our driver Jigme really knew how to maneuver through curvaceous road of Bhutan. The hotel arranged were neat and clean. We covered following destination Thimphu, Paro, Punakha and Haa Valley. We tried traditional hot stone bath and local Archery with local people and it was a memorable experience; we also had farm house lunches, picnic by the river side but the best part was a surprise candle light dinner at Zhiwaling Ascent surrounded by forest , arranged by the Inbound team. We were really touched with this gesture. Thank you Bhutan Best Inbound for your lovely service. We will recommend you to all our friends and family. Thank You
