Beautiful Sites But… - This review will need to be broken down into segments because there is much to be said about this experience. I’ll start with the main purpose of the tour which was the actual sities- all of which were absolutely stunning. It’s an honor to be able to visit such beautiful and deeply historical locations. However, the tour was advertised as English, but the tour guide was unable to speak English that was understandable to an English speaker. To be clear, I was not expecting a completely western English but at a minimum I expected to be able to understand enough to piece together what he was saying. This was not the case. As a foreigner, the locals were very interested in taking photos with me and as a solo female traveler, I will say at no point did I feel unsafe by the attention however, the tour guide made no effort to stop the literal dozens of people who kept asking for photos. In fact, he almost seemed to encourage it which took away from the purpose of the tour which was to experience the sites. The tour guide also rushed through the first site (Sun Temple) stating something about traffic. I really would have liked more time at the Sun Temple. The transportation to and from the sites was efficient and the driver was clearly very experienced. Do not expect pristine paved roads between sites, that is something the tour organization cannot control however, the car itself was new, very clean and air conditioned. We did experience an accident on the drive back (NOT the fault of the driver) he was very careful to make sure I was ok (I’m fine and still very grateful to the driver for taking care of the situation). Overall, this specific tour is not one I would recommend. They are doing these sites a disservice by using a guide that cannot effectively give foreigners deeper insight into these sites rich history. The only reason I didn’t give 1 star is because I think the tour company can correct this and I hope they do.
