- Patan - As the tour starts, you will be picked up from the hotel. Then proceed for a day excursion to Patan and Modhera. You will be driven towards Patan, an ancient fortified city established in 745 AD by Vanraj Chavda of the Chavda Kingdom. The city is famous for its Patola Weaving. Patola or Double Ikkat from this region of Gujarat glorifies the ancient heritage of India in fine textile. This art of weaving dates back to centuries and lures the connoisseur of fine textiles. This art of weaving features no reverse sides and features equal design and intensity of colors on both the sides. The paintings in Ajanta caves resemble the tie-dye technique of Patola. According to legends, sometimes around the 12th century AC, 700 families of Patola weavers from Jalna (South Maharashtra) were invited by King Kumarpal of Solanki dynasty to settle down in Patan in North Gujarat. The Salvi family is one of them who continues this traditional art and has preserved the heritage art from four generations.

An awe-inspiring trip - A trip to Modhera and Patan is an amazing experience. The Sun temple at Modhera is more than a thousand years old and is based on the knowledge of the movement of the Sun and the planets. It is very well designed and beautifully structured. It is one of the most attractive structures I have ever seen. Similarly, the stepwell at Patan is breath taking. The carvings are fantastic and it is also an engineering marvel. One can spend hours at these two places just taking in the splendor and artistry. The stop at the patola factory in Patan is also quite informative. Overall, this tour, though somewhat long, is highly recommended. I was impressed with the guide provided by Getsholidays for this trip.

Beautiful Architectur, but very poorly maintained facilities - there was lots of garbage, the well water seemed no one cared for the heritage. the complex guards were trying their best to make sure people would not climb on the parapets and run around. but certain visitors think they know better and would just not listen
