A great day getting to know some old but advanced ancestors of Peru - We went north from Lima because I’m aware that the Inca weren’t the only prehispánica civilización. Huaca del Sol is fascinating and the preserved and/or restored pictographs on and in pyramid are breathtaking. Chan Chan complex is a must see and left us in awe. Our guide (Judith-I hope I’ve spelled properly) spoke English very well and was quite knowledgeable about the history and the archeological work. Great guide!

Great full day tour in Trujillo - Great day tour, make sure to take drinks with you as it was hot. The tour guide spoke good English, was very knowledgable, and keen to answer any questions asked. One of the museums didn’t allow photos. The walk through the huacas and Cham Cham were a great insight and great to see the restoration work being carried out. Only downside was the bus had no air-con.

A great tour - not to be missed. - This was a very full day. My pedometer says I did 12,000 steps. These archaeological ruins leave Machu Pichu for dead. Both sites were very extensive and well preserved. The museum was fantastic even though we were rushed through. The walk around downtown Trujillo was very interesting and the lunch stop was great. The tour leader Julio spoke good English but the guide explaining the sites and museum, Oscar, was very hard to understand. He was very knowledgeable but so hard to understand. The pick up from the cruise ship went well without a hitch.

Did the job - As a tour to the Huacas and Chan Chan, the tour did the job., but the whole experience felt a bit tired. I had booked an English language tour; as I was the only English speaker in a group of 8, I had my own guide. Her English was OK, her knowledge was excellent. She was informative and polite; after 7 hours, she knew nothing about me, simply did the information thing. The archaeological sites were amazing and well worth the visit. The van was a squeeze with 8 tourists, 2 guides and driver. This became even tighter, with 2 extras added for the last two legs of the drive. The lunch entertainment was very dramatic and skillful, the sound system was so loud your body vibrated. Lunch itself was a testament to obesity - all options hot, fried and with a kilo of carbohydrates. Healthy options were completely avoided. At the end, the 40-minute visit to the beach was a waste of time; obviously not just my opinion - everyone came back to the van early.

Too bad for not having AC - The guide was really nice and knowledgeable. Sadly the transport van did not have AC although advertised with it.

Guide in a hurry - The Spanish speaking guide walked very fast leaving the group behind and talking while walking so few could hear what she was explaining. She had no time for questions and was moving the group from place to place quickly so one of the group could make another appointment. She was gracious about taking photos of the group members but did not encourage any interaction among the group.

Tour provider was a ghost - The tour provider a couple hours before the start of the tour sent an email that my tour was cancelled. I don't for one minute believe the excuse that a "family member died." The office where I was to meet and board the tour van was locked for three days prior to my trip. I had already headed to the office the day of the tour. I heard noise behind the locked door and I knocked. A workman who was obviously renovating the room answered the door and said that was not the tour office any more. It appears TripAdvisor does not keep track of their tour providers.
