Kandy Lake - Kandy Lake, also known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, is an artificial lake in the heart of Kandy, Sri Lanka. Built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe next to the Temple of the Tooth, the lake has been reduced in size over the years. It is a protected lake where fishing is banned. Numerous legends and folklore surround the lake, including one about the small island at its center, which was supposedly used by the king’s helm for bathing and connected to the palace by a secret tunnel.

Glenloch Tea Factory - The Glenloch Tea Factory is located in the Nuwara Eliya District at Katukithula, on the route from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. The Glenloch tea plantation is maintained using proper planting methods, soil conservation, and maneuvering. Sri Lanka is renowned for its tea, benefiting from natural waterfalls, favorable climate, and ideal soil conditions. The combination of experience, dedication, and technology has earned Sri Lanka a global reputation for its Ceylon tea, with Glenloch tea being a significant contributor to this success.

Ramboda Waterfall - As rivers flow over uneven terrain or down mountains, they often split into tributaries or form waterfalls. Occasionally, two tributaries of the same river create twin waterfalls close to each other, forming a Y shape when they combine again. This unique sight can be seen at the Ramboda Pass in the Pussellawa area of Nuwara Eliya. The Ramboda Falls, also known as Ramboda Ella or Puna Ella, are formed by Puna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya. They twin with Dunsinane Falls, created by Pundalu Oya, another tributary of Kothmale River, and merge at the base to form a Y shape.

Gregory Lake - Gregory Lake was created in 1873 by Sir William Gregory, the British-era Governor, supposedly to provide electricity. However, the lake was mainly used for leisure and recreation. At its peak, Gregory Lake was the most prominent attraction in the area, serving as a relaxation spot for many visitors.

Sita Temple - The Sita Amman Temple, dedicated to Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, is located in the hills of Nuwara Eliya. It is the only temple of its kind in the world and is treated with enduring devotion by Hindus. Situated five kilometers along the road from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy, the temple is believed to be where King Ravana held Sita captive. Notably, footprints by the river are thought to resemble those of Hanuman.

Ambewela Farms - Ambewela is a small town or hill station in the Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka. The area is home to two animal husbandries, Ambewela Farm and New Zealand Farm, which have Ayrshire cattle and Friesian cows, respectively.

Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple - The Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple, built by the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka, is located in Ramboda on the Kandy-Nuwara Eliya Road. Approximately 30 kilometers north of Nuwara Eliya on the A-5 route, the temple faces the Kotmale Reservoir. The Chinmaya Mission is a Hindu spiritual organization dedicated to spreading Vedanta, the science of the self as explained in the Vedas, Upanishads, and other important Hindu scriptures, including the Bhagavad Gita.

Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area - The Madu Ganga is a minor watercourse that originates near Uragasmanhandiya in the Galle District of Sri Lanka. It widens into the Madu Ganga Lake at Balapitiya and flows for another 4.4 km before draining into the Indian Ocean.

Galle Fort Lighthouse - The Galle Lighthouse is located within the landmark Galle Fort. Built seven meters above the road on the ramparts, it is Sri Lanka’s oldest light station, dating back to 1848. The original lighthouse was destroyed by fire in 1934 and was rebuilt to its current height of 26 meters. Situated within the ancient Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction.

Galle Fort - The Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort, is a fortification on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, initially built by the Portuguese in the late 16th century. According to UNESCO, the site is recognized as a World Heritage Site for its unique blend of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries, meeting the criteria for such recognition.

Now a heritage building and shopping and dining precinct, the structure features boxy pillars, red clay roof tiles, and large central courtyards. Lavishly restored, it houses shops, cafes, and restaurants run by some of Colombo’s best operators. Visitors can enjoy a cold drink amid the thick columns of its arcades.

Independence Square - Independence Square is a popular stop on city tours, where visitors can walk around the structure or relax in the shade of mango trees. Nearby is the Arcade, a modern shopping mall in former colonial government buildings, featuring a fountain, covered ponds, and statues of lions. Located in the prestigious Cinnamon Gardens district of Colombo, Independence Square takes its name from the Independence Memorial Hall, built to commemorate Sri Lanka’s independence from British rule in 1948.
