First Day In Carmel
s.giovino Giovino

The Carmel Coffee House
Because you need coffee, and they house-roast all their own beans.
Carmel Beach
A mile of white sand with Pebble Beach's 8th fairway on one end, and views to Point Lobos on the other. Dog-friendly (off-leash, don't put things down in the sand and hope they're unmolested when you return). Perfect walk to build your appetite.
Carmel Food Tours
Great way to get your bearings, and to experience the history and culture of Carmel while tasting your way through town.
Point Lobos State Reserve
If you're not tuckered from the tour, take a short drive (3 miles) down the coast and enjoy gentle hiking with plenty of Kodak moments. If you'd rather sit, check out the next option:
Restaurant at Mission Ranch
Stop here for a glass of wine and a view from the patio that overlooks fluffy sheep in the pasture, the ocean and Point Lobos beyond.
La Playa Carmel
Try the Bud Allen Happy Hour from 5:00-5:10 pm. Drinks are ten cents but you have to pay with a dime. Outstanding views in one of Carmel's most historic hotels.
Casanova Restaurant
You got a taste during the tour but now you're back to get the full Monty. With more than 2100 selections on the wine list there's something to pair with any of their thoughtfully prepared entrees.
I would stay at: Tally Ho Inn
Perfect location, small inn, large rooms
