Highlights
  • Abbaye Saint-Pierre d’Hautvillers - In Hautvillers, a village known as the “Cradle of Champagne,” enjoy a private tour of the Church where Dom Pérignon, the spiritual father of Champagne, is buried. We’ll share his story and reveal whether he truly invented Champagne!

  • Hautvillers - In Hautvillers, we’ll also visit the historic hillsides of Champagne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to take in the stunning views of the Marne Valley, where Dom Pérignon conducted his winemaking experiments. It’s the perfect spot amidst the vineyards for unforgettable photos of you and the breathtaking landscape.

We’ll visit the first of two independent producer/grower families you’ll meet today. You’ll learn about the Champagne production process, tour the presses, wineries, and cellars, and enjoy a guided tasting of three different Premier Cru Champagnes*.

*Depending on the season and availability, this visit/tasting may take place in a village in the “Côte des Blancs” or in Aÿ-Champagne.

  • Avenue de Champagne - Another must-see UNESCO World Heritage Site is the “Avenue de Champagne” in Epernay, the Capital of the Champagne vineyard. Known as “the most expensive Avenue in the world,” it boasts prestigious Champagne houses, mansions, and 100 kilometers of cellars holding 200 million bottles.

We’ll provide a guided tour of the famous Avenue de Champagne, explaining the history of its magnificent mansions and production buildings, which have belonged to Champagne Houses like Moët & Chandon, Perrier Jouët, and Pol Roger for centuries.

  • Cramant - During our tour of the “Côte des Blancs,” we’ll pass through Cramant, one of the renowned Grand Cru villages south of Epernay. This area is known as the “Kingdom of Chardonnay Grand Cru.”

For lunch, we’ve selected local Champagne and dining bars to share a convivial moment. The menu includes gourmet platters of charcuterie and cheese with bread and salad, ready-made farm meals, pâtés, regional biscuits, and coffee, accompanied by a bottle of Champagne for every two people.

When booking your tour, please inform us of any food allergies or dietary requirements.

*Depending on the day of the tour, the lunch location may vary.

  • Oger - Oger is another famous Grand Cru village in the “Côte des Blancs,” known for its 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru “Blanc de Blancs.” Here, we’ll visit the second independent producer/grower family of the day. You’ll learn more about the Champagne-making process, tour the presses, wineries, and cellars, and taste three 100% Grand Cru Champagnes. You’ll receive tasting advice to explore different “Blanc de Blancs,” such as natural Champagne without dosage, extra brut, from old vines, vintage, or even aged in oak barrels.

We’ll also pass through other renowned villages like Chouilly and Avize, see the largest bottle factory, and pass by the famous “Chateau de Saran,” the ultra-private property where the luxury LVMH group (owners of Moët & Chandon, Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot, Ruinart, Krug, etc.) hosts its top clients and VIPs, as well as the “Montaigu site” dedicated to Moët & Chandon’s Champagne production.

  • Mareuil-sur-Ay - We’ll also visit the Premier Cru village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ in the Marne Valley, with its historic hillsides, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, mainly planted with Pinot Noir. This village is home to lesser-known Champagne Houses like Champagne Billecart-Salmon and Philipponnat.

  • Ay-Champagne - You’ll also discover the famous village of Aÿ-Champagne, with its UNESCO World Heritage-listed hillsides and renowned Grand Cru vineyards. Did you know that Aÿ-Champagne was the main center of the Champagne industry in the 16th century and still holds a special place today? The kings of France had their own presses here, and Champagne wines were once called “Wines of Aÿ.”

You’ll explore part of this historic village and its famous vineyard, mainly planted with Pinot Noir. We’ll discuss vine work, grape varieties, the exceptional terroir, and sustainable viticulture. We’ll also stop in front of the headquarters of famous Champagne Houses in Aÿ, such as Bollinger, Deutz, and Ayala.

Throughout the day, in addition to Champagnes, you’ll taste three essential Champagne spirits and aperitifs: Ratafia, Fine de la Marne, and Marc de Champagne from the Goyard Distillery, the oldest in Champagne.

Great experience - Isabelle picked us up with her electric E-Mehari jeep at our hotel in Epernay. We had a great day starting with Hautville for a guided tour of the Church of Dom Pérignon and the vineyard. She made sure we were there before it got busy. After that we visited 2 familie/independent houses were we tasted of course different champagnes. In between we had a delicious lunch with a bottle of champagne from the village were we ate. Driving through small villages and stopping at various points for beautiful views of the region. Ending in Ay with a tasting of various champagne aperitifs before we returned to Epernay.
