Guests will be picked up from their hotel at 8:45 am. Enjoy a breathtaking journey through the grassy open sierra, descending into the Apurimac River canyon at an altitude of 2,200 meters. The adventure begins at a sandy beach called “Rocoto.” Certified English-speaking professional river guides, trained in Swift Water Rescue, will provide all necessary equipment and conduct a safety briefing. In the calmer sections of the river, additional activities such as inflatable kayaks (Duckys) and hydrospeed will be available. (L+D)
Apurimac Day 2: The Black Canyon Apurimac River:
An early morning wake-up call is followed by a fresh fruit salad breakfast with oats, yogurt, coffee, tea, and granola. A short walk near the camp allows guests to admire the local flora. After packing gear, the float continues with more class III plus rapids and an opportunity to explore a creek. The journey passes through the magnificent “Black Canyon” rock formation. The Santo Tomas tributary adds more water to the river, leading to several class IV rapids. A nutritious lunch is served, and later, guests may see hanging bridges and possibly encounter local wildlife, such as the Torrent duck, foxes, Andean gull, and the majestic Condor. Camp on a sandy beach under the stars of the Southern Hemisphere, including the Milky Way and the Southern Cross. (B+L+D)
