Huascaran National Park - Today marks the start of our climbing adventure. We travel by private transport to the Santa River valley, reaching Yungay and continuing through the Llanganuco Valley. From Cebollapampa, we trek up to Refugio Peru. Our base camp is at the Pisco mountain hut, “Refugio Perú.” The breathtaking views of the rear side of Huascarán Peak and Chopicalqui are truly awe-inspiring. We also enjoy vistas of Huandoy, Chacraraju, and Yanapaccha. We spend the night in the hut. Driving takes approximately 3 hours, and we camp overnight. Hiking takes about 5 hours.
Base Camp/Peru Hut - Climb Nevado Pisco (5752 m) - Return to Base Camp. Optional: Hike to Moraine Camp (4900 m)
Huascaran National Park - Shortly after midnight, we depart from Base Camp, ascending to cross the extensive moraine to reach the glacier. A steep climb leads us to the saddle of Nevado Pisco. Then, we undertake the final long ascent over the glacier to the summit, standing at 5752 meters. We are once again treated to a magnificent view of Peru’s highest mountain, Huascarán, along with nearby Huandoy, Chopiqualci, and many others. Later, we descend back to Refugio Peru. Optional: The group can comfortably hike to Moraine Camp in 3 or 4 hours and then return to the refuge, or if hikers prefer not to return, we can camp on the moraine (4900 m). Overnight camping involves approximately 5 hours of hiking and 9 hours of climbing.
