Exhilarating ride - I had a great time, despite not having been on a raft for over a decade! Anderson and David took great care of us and made sure we had a great time and were safe. The view were breathtaking and I loved the scenery. We were lucky enough to have the lodge to ourselves and it was a peaceful way to chill out and relax after our adventure.

Fun trip with experts - I took a rafting trip on the Urubuma river from Ollantaytambo, and it was amazing. It had been awhile since I went whitewater rafting. They collect you from your hotel, and drive you to their facility. First we were allowed to change into our swimsuits, and stored our things in their on site lockers. Then we were fitted with wetsuits, life jackets, and helmets. They then drove us to the start of the rafting. We were given a safety talk, including what to do if we fell in and needed to be rescued by the accompanying kayaker. Then it was into the water where we got to practice our rowing a bit before the rapids started.
The rapids were a hoot! The guide takes photos and videos and they turned out quite well. We were lucky to have a beautiful day and thus did not get too cold on the water. The river is one that flows down from Machhu Picchu and eventually into the Amazon, and the views of the mountains on either side are breathtaking.
Once you are done with the river rafting, you get to go into a sauna and warm up, and then you can change into your street clothes. Showers are available if you choose, but i heard they were cold. After gettign dressed, they treat you to a warm and tasty lunch. All in all it was a perfect outing and I would definitely recommend!
p.s. - our group only did the rafting, we did not do the zip lining so I can't speak to that part of the experience.

10/10 rafting!! - This was such a great experience! We were picked up early, fully suited in wetsuits, and had a great time on these class 3 rapids! Our guide Anderson was very fun and everyone enjoyed themselves on both the rafting trip and the little zipline across the river. Totally recommend if you want a quick, cheap, and safe trip down the Urubamba!

Amazing experience with the Cusipata Lodge. - This was an incredible experience for me and my 4 adult children (and Daughter in law). The company met us at our Cusco Hotel and drove us to the lodge where we were outfitted (wetsuit, booties, water jacket, life vests, helmet) and provided a detailed safety overview. The guides then drove us to the river dropoff location where we carried the rafts down to the river. Our guide (Anderson) then instructed us on how to operate the raft and what to do in the event someone fell into the river.
We spent the first portion of the trip practicing the techniques he had discussed so felt confident and prepared when we hit the more difficult section of the river.
The scenery was spectacular - I've lived in Alaska and Europe and this was better than almost anything I've ever seen in my life. After the rafting portion was over we changed out of our wet gear back into our clothes and were given a short period of time to warm up in the Resort Sauna before our delicious lunch.
After lunch we did a brief zipline excursion across the river and back for approximately 30 minutes.
The guides and staff were very friendly and were very concerned with making sure we were prepared for the various events and were safe while doing them.
It was an amazing day that I will never forget - if I ever come back to Peru, I will make it a point to take this trip again.

Highlight of our trip! - This was such a fun day! White water rafting was a blast, and our guide was incredibly fun and professional. I felt safe at every point and truly had a great time. It felt like the perfect length and then we got to warm up in the sauna and relax with a great lunch! Hoping to do the 3-day excursion next time!!

10/10 would recommend - We were nervous about this at first, but after meeting Anderson and getting shown the basics we knew it was going to be fun. It was one of the best experiences we had in Peru.

Even if you’re scared, just do it! - I’m so glad I had this experience. I’ve never done it before and I was traveling off peak so I happened to be the only one to book for the day. They still accommodated me and even though I was super nervous about the lack of people, I was reassured it would be okay and we took to the river and it felt amazing. The scenery alone was worth every minute. I never felt unsafe even as a complete novice. I opted to not zipline and spent time in the sauna and ate a delicious quinoa and pumpkin soup and chicken and potato dish that was probably easily some of the tastier food I’ve had during my trip. It should be noted that video is not included but the price isn’t unreasonable if you want to save the experience. Thanks Anderson and team for such a memorable experience.

Don't take this tour! - I've been on better day river rafting excursions. The guide, David, appeared somewhat knowledgable on safety procedures with rafting. But when he invited the paid guests to jump in the river for a swim, everything changed in the experience. The particular area of the river where he let us swim was very fast-moving and about 5 feet deep. After 2 minutes of swimming, trying to keep up with river current, I lost control, and suddenly was not able to swim. I give the guides some credit for trying to attempt to rescue me, but they were slow to approach me where I was , and due to heaviness weight of the required wear of wetsuit and helmut they provided, I was immobilized, had no ability to see my surroundings. I panicked, and almost passed out, floating on the river surface and/or almost drowned. The guides appeared to be insufficiently trained to help in this. After the near-death experience I had, our group was then invited to a lodge prepared meal that looked like slop (boiled chicken drowned in distasteful sauce), and piled up rice with no flavor. The guide originally offered passion fruit juice earlier in the tour, but during meal, explained that was not available. Also my partner couldn't eat their plated food after discovering human eye lashes on their food plate. We also were invited to experience zip lining activity as part of the tour. So disappointed with this part, because there were only 2 lines installed for the course, and to even begin the activity, you have to climb a rickety old metal ladder as part of a tower to reach the top platform, and you have to manage your own belaying equipment to even get to the top, and little supervision was provided for this. It all looked very sketchy and full of deathly risks. Overall, this tour was way overpriced considering the low quality of service and guidance provided. Would not recommend this particular tour to anyone else. They also charge for towel rental, that mine was stained from previous guests. Also, they try to promote providing photo snd video of you in the experience, but leave the actual camera use to raft riders, and then gouge you with extra cost for receiving the recorded material, which you pay in advance before being allowed to view previews so you can check quality of what you pay for.
