Our perfect day in Douro Valley with Bambuti Tours. - Two young brothers proudly showed us the region where grew up. We enjoyed 2 wine tours, boat tour and absolutely delicious private lunch at Aunt Minda’s overlooking the river. It was a perfect day!

Long but enriching - The tour is run by two entrepreneur brothers. You will meet one of them. As I conveyed to our guide, the first part of the tour was too long. Three hours was just too long time to “kill” at a wine tasting. The tour could be fortified (just as a port wine is) by more facts about the region, wine making process, and history. The food offering in the morning was somewhat superfluous unless you are really hungry. I would not eat breakfast ahead of time. The guides try to keep the experience within their family and friends, which actually gives it a special flavor. The hike to a lunch place cooked by their aunt can be challenging for some, but the lunch offers a great view and nice traditional food. The bathroom at the aunt’s place is astounding and it is a sightseeing spot by itself. Overall, a worthwhile tour which could be shortened in its first part but still makes up for its shortcomings at the end with a boat tour and excellent and generous second wine tasting.
