What a release - We had a fantastic time going out to release baby turtles. Francisco is knowledgeable about Mexican history, Mexican cuisine and local turtle populations. Just the trip out to the site was interesting. Driving through the small towns. Once you were at the site at the meet up place you take a short but scenic ATV ride out to the beach. Once there you have a brief discussion about the local turtle population. Shortly after you go to the Baby Turtles load them into baskets bring them onto the beach and release them. Of course, everyone wants 100% of their released turtles to survive the trip but once there you will hear this statistics about their survival rate. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Unforgettable - Excelent experience on natural wonders. Baby turtles were so cute. Luis explained a lot of information. Baby turtles move quickly all directions, so always watch your step. We had coconut cookies nearby. They are very tasty.

Fantastic Eco-Tour and Guide - My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour with Luis. He drove the two of us south to a small town in his car, then we transferred to an ATV for a bumpy trip about a mile to the beach and turtle nursery. Along with another small group we learned about the three turtle types on this beach. We then transferred our 65 or so newborns to baskets, then after some frigate birds finally left, carried them just above the surf and released them. It was quite exciting to help them start their journey. We highly recommend this tour!

A must see excursion! - We thoroughly enjoyed our excursion with Luis. He is knowledgeable, his English is exceptionally good, and his van is comfortable too! He picked us up at our hotel and we drove to the secluded beach where we learned about the types of turtles in the area, their nesting characteristics, and the efforts being made to save them. Then we gathered the recently hatched babies and returned them to the sea. It was a wonderful experience! When we encountered surprises along the way (police inspection and a road closure), Luis was quick to adapt and make our adventure even more exciting. He’s a true professional and we look forward to another excursion with him when we return to Zihuatanejo!

Baby Sea turtle release with Luis - This was a most excellent and not too be missed excursion! Luis picked is up at our hotel and drove us out to a secluded beach about an hour from Zihua. Asking the way, we were stopped by armed police, which Luis handled with serene aplomb (and a small bribe). When we arrived at the gate in our your van, it was locked and no one had the key. Not to be deterred, we instead took an alternate route via ATVs, which was unexpected fun! We arrived at the La Tortuga Feliz enclosure where Luis translated a brief history of La Tortuga Feliz, as well as information on the ecology of the 3 main turtle species endemic to this part of Mexico. We then proceeded to collect the baby turtles, take pictures of us with them, and then release them to the sea. They were so adorable! Many of them had to be helped to face the right direction towards the sea. We then watched until the last one made it into the sea to begin their journey. It was the highlight of an awesome trip to Zihuatanejo!

Beautiful day learning about and releasing our sea friends. - This tour’s main event was very special, but the entire trip was exceptional! Luis gets 10 out of 10 as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. He truly loves the area he lives, and wants to share it all with his guests. The trip to the secluded turtle sanctuary required about a half hour car ride and a short ride on the back of a quad to the beach site. Then we attended a sea turtle class taught by Luis and the sanctuary guardian Balta. Gathering the hatchlings and releasing them close to the surfs edge will be a moment we will never forget. All our sea friends made the escape and are now fending for themselves at sea.❤️

Overpriced - I would recommend looking at alternative ways to visit the Turtle Release Center. This specif tour is really only a shuttle (pricey shuttle) to get you there. The tour operator literally only drove us there and back. The center is the one that conducts the tour. Next time I will just drive there or get a shuttle from hotel for 1/3 of the cost.
