Informative and fun - The guide Julio was fantastic. We visited quite a few locations and had lots of opportunity to see the local sights. The traffic getting back to our hotels was pretty bad so make sure you don’t have any plans to rush back for!

Petrópolis day tour - Our guide translated in 3 different languages! He explained the history of the emperor’s family and defining events that shaped Brazil’s political history. We enjoyed the crystal palace and the porcelain exhibition. The day was well spent.

Informative tour, sometimes a bit rushed - The tour itself is very informative and you get a good overview over petropolis. The stops except the imperial palace are sometimes too short to really take in the at atmosphere, but it is understandable with the short time available. Our guide Celia was really knowledgable! The group size was good, the minibus was only 2/3 full, so you could spread out a bit. Unfortunately we were the first to enter and the last to exit the tour, which meant that we got to pick up /drop off all passengers in the morning/afternoon…. Lost time for us…. But at least we had first choice in seats What we did not like: The stop at the chocolate factory: felt a bit like those paid stops at carpet factories in Tunisia/Turkey. I did not feel the need to buy chocolate with 34 degrees temperature… The lunch was not great, it was a mediocre buffet. A quick stop at a sanduicheria would have been better. Value for money is good overall, we enjoyed the day!

Nice but could have been better - The tour started badly. Was supposed to be picked up at 8AM but ended up being picked up at 9:30AM due to a wreck that stopped the van from picking us up thr correct time. This wasn't the tours fault. The tour decided to consolidate two tours into one. We went from a van to a bus. The appropriate tour size would be a van. A bus was too large for a tour. We arrived in Petropolis ay 12:30 and everything from their felt rushed. Petropolis is a beautiful town. Nice break from Rio. We didn't get back until 9:45PM after dropping everyone off. I would go to Petropolis if it was a van size tour group. I would not go if it was a bus size tour group. Extremely long tiring day.

Treatment of the guide not very friendly - It was a large group of people who spoke Portuguese, we were 4 people who spoke Spanish and only 1 who spoke English. However, the entire tour was in Portuguese and English, the guide only spoke Spanish when we were in front of him, which was not always possible because it was a very large group. At the end of the tour he left some of them in their hotels (because that is what the reservation says) and he approached the rest of the people to explain how to get to their hotels, however he did not say anything to us considering we are foreigners and naturally we did not know what area, I had to ask him for directions and he told me to come down right then and there (because we were already leaving the hotel).
