  • Wat Samana Kottharam - Wat Samana Kottharam, nestled near Wat Kudidao, underwent a notable restoration under the patronage of Chao Phraya Kosa (Lek) and Phraya Kosa (Pan) during the reign of King Narai the Great. The focal point of this temple is a striking and distinctive prang, thought to emulate the design of Chedi Chet Yot in Chiang Mai, featuring doors on all four sides and a wooden gable roof.

Within the ubosot, the primary attraction is the revered Buddha image named ‘Phra Si Samanagot Bophit.’ This sandstone masterpiece, crafted during the early period of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya, depicts the Buddha in the Bhumisparsa Mudra. Additionally, Wat Samana Kottharam boasts a remarkably large stupa, showcasing a unique style believed to be inspired by the Seven-Spires Temple in Chiang Mai. The temple stands as a testament to the rich history and diverse architectural influences of Ayutthaya.

  • Wat Kudi Dao - Wat Kudi Dao, located in Ayutthaya, is a captivating temple that bears historical significance and architectural charm. Originally constructed during the Ayutthaya Kingdom, the temple underwent renovations and enhancements over the years, showcasing a blend of cultural influences.

One of the notable features of Wat Kudi Dao is its elegantly designed ubosot, a main hall used for Buddhist ceremonies. The temple’s architecture reflects the classical Ayutthaya style, characterized by intricate details and ornate decorations. The surrounding grounds of the temple are often adorned with sculptures and religious artifacts, adding to the visual appeal.

One of the highlights of Wat Kudi Dao is its serene atmosphere, offering visitors a tranquil space for contemplation and appreciation of Thai religious and architectural heritage.

  • Ayutthaya - Wat Dusittharam, nestled in the northeastern area of Hantra sub-district, off the city island in Ayutthaya, is a serene monastery on the west bank of Khlong Ayodhya. The name “Dusittharam” is derived from the Sanskrit word “Tush,” signifying contentment and the satisfaction of desires.

The monastery spans a considerable area, divided into an old and a new part. In the old section, one can discover a substantial chedi, a vihara, and an ordination hall or ubosot. These historical structures reflect the traditional charm of the temple. In contrast, the modern part features contemporary monastic buildings, showcasing the evolving landscape of Wat Dusittharam. The temple stands as a testament to the enduring spiritual legacy of Ayutthaya, inviting visitors to explore its rich history and peaceful surroundings.

  • Wat Maheyong - Wat Maheyong, a Buddhist monastery situated just outside the eastern end of the ancient city of Ayutthaya, stands in ruins despite undergoing multiple restoration efforts throughout its history. Originally built in the 15th century, it was likely intended as a meditation center, and its red brick walls are still discernible from a distance. Recognized as a national historical site by Thailand’s “Fine Arts Department,” the monastery’s ordination hall (ubosot) hosts religious ceremonies, with Buddhist monks actively encouraged to preside over these events during auspicious periods.

After the tour, relax and unwind with post-tour soft drinks, Ayutthaya-style Thai food, and a delightful local lunch.
