Tour of Philadelphia - Very informative trip. Highly suggest morning vs afternoon as we sat on top and it was rather warm. Staff was quite knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. Definitely worth the fee.

Great tour of the city - Our tour guide John was awesome. Had a dry humor and keep you engaged. He gave many interesting facts about the city. He also reminded us always to duck if we had to to avoid the low hanging branches.

Great guides, rude driver - Really great way to get around the city and learn some of the history. The tour guides were all great and entertaining. Only downside was one of the drivers who was rude to my son, but luckily we had limited interaction with him.

Good for transportation only - First the positive..fyi we booked this tour bus company ..but they apparently have been merged with the other hop on/hop off red bus tour company (or it’s the same company? Not sure) but you can use any of the buses with the same ticket. Bus tour was fine for transportation purposes.. timing was good.. every 15-20 mins never had an issue getting on.. and it was a very busy Saturday in July. Now the bad part..The live tour guides were terrible.. rude personalities, very poor knowledge base .. so much incorrect information.. pointing out museums and buildings and being corrected by other guests.. just overall really bad! So don’t count on any real history or information being provided. One in particular said she wasn’t allowed to mention sports because it was too controversial.. but continued to give her personal opinions and views on politics and other things she should have definitely kept to herself. Also many safety issues as the guides on the top level of the bus not communicating with the driver about guests on the steps or trying to exit! Have been on many hop on/hop off tours in other cities and have never seen these issues. We did tell “management” at stop 1… but didn’t feel it was taken seriously.

Very busy even in early summer - We were visiting at the beginning of vacation season and already the buses were filled. Be prepared for a wait at popular stops such as Reading Terminal Market. Also, some of the buses do not have air conditioning on the lower level and you may be seated sideways not forward. The guides choose their own commentary so some are better than others. We had one good one and one that was not so good. Riding all the way around on the upper deck is the best way to go.

A Bum Start to a Good Tour - We purchased from Viator 4 tickets for the downtown Philadelphia, Hop-on Hop-off bus. The Viator site said we could buy our tickets on-line and board the bus at any one of the about 22 stops in downtown Philadelphia. In fact, the first time we tried to board a 2 decker bus at stop 6, the driver refused to allow us on the bus. We were told that we had to secure paper tickets at “Stop #1.” We took an Uber to stop #1, where we waited 10 minutes after we received a paper ticket. It took almost 50 minutes to buy tickets and get onto a bus. Never again. That said the tour guide knew Philly inside and out. We were thrilled by all we learned.

Lackluster Experience - This tour was very disorganized. It was definitely not 20 min intervals between buses. The live tracking didn't work. Trying to call the given number also didn't work. When we finally were able to get on, we were told we had to get off a few steps later because this bus didn't go any further. Then we were directed to get on the "red bus" (meaning City Sightseeing Tours" and were told by the guide "that they were both the same thing." That would have been helpful to know earlier.

Not worth it - Pretty terrible. Top deck was full when we got on. Not much to see from the lower cab. Moved up when a few people got off. Of course, it started to rain. We boarded mid route with our online purchased tickets, but were told we had to get off at the Liberty Hall, and then ride the next bus. Of course, the next bus had no upper deck. The wait between busses was about 45 min, although we were told they departed every 20 min. Staff seemed clueless, except for the guide who was informative. You’d be better off, and spend less money if you buy a guide book and use Lyft to get around.
