Highlights
  • Liberty Bell Center - This is not your typical Liberty Bell tour. The Dark Philly Adult Night Tour follows the paths of the Founding Fathers and serves as both a historical and sightseeing tour, featuring mature content and ghost stories. Participants will walk directly up to The Liberty Bell and learn about its history, damage, and significance in American history as an iconic symbol of the United States.
  • Independence Hall - Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed, is located directly across the street from a known brothel and den of iniquity frequented by statesmen and sportsmen alike. This location provides a unique perspective on the debates for independence, the war, and the founding of the United States, intertwined with tales of philandering and the sex industry in 1776.
  • The President’s House - The home once occupied by George Washington, John Adams, and Benedict Arnold was not always as revered as it is today. This site contextualizes the presidencies and military governorships that occurred here, along with the darker histories of the location during and after the revolutionary period, including the significance of archaeological excavations.
  • Congress Hall - Known for the inaugurations of two American Presidents and early debates of the young nation while Philadelphia was America’s capital, this site reveals the darker aspects of the men who sat in Congress and the Senate. Unlike the daytime tour that explores the rosier side of the Founders, this tour delves into the flawed and sometimes self-interested and lust-driven nature of America’s founders.
  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution - Thousands of American traitors were executed here by the British Crown and buried in mass graves. This site offers a chance to contextualize their suffering and retell ghost stories and haunted lore.
  • Walnut Street - The Walnut Street Prison will be visited here.
  • City Tavern Restaurant - This colonial-era site is known for its haunted tales of ghosts.
  • Merchants Exchange Building - The site of Alexander Hamilton’s home in Philadelphia, along with the Merchants Exchange Building across the street, will be visited. Discussions will cover lesser-known facets of Hamilton’s personality, his often troubling relations with other Founding Fathers, and his various affairs.
  • First Bank of the United States - Haunted tales and ghost stories will be shared about this bank, which was advocated for by Alexander Hamilton.
  • Second Bank of the United States - This site, also pushed for by Alexander Hamilton, will feature tales of ghosts and duels.
  • Library Company of Philadelphia - Founded by Benjamin Franklin and home to University of Pennsylvania surgical students, this location’s haunting history includes ghost lore, grave robbery, and bizarre medical practices of the eighteenth century.
  • Todd House - The home of future First Lady Dolley Madison.
  • Benjamin Rush Garden - Tales of yellow fever and apparitions will be shared here.

ghost tour! - Dr Cushman was an excellent tour guide for our ghost tour. As an archeologist, he confessed to not be great with names & dates, but that didn't stop him from having incredible details about all the stops on the tour. His story-telling was engaging and well-paced, and he even managed to squeeze an extra stop on the tour because of smoothly everything went. Would definitely recommend to anyone who's interested in the historical context for the paranormal (or mundane) goings-on in the old city.

Fun tour - Dr. Cushman was our tour guide and he was very nice and informative. We did the ghost tour they do for Halloween. It would be cool if they provided a microphone for him. He knew his stuff and let us know about other things that might interest us.
