Must do, book it now! - Book this right now! Absolute highlight of our trip to Cambodia! Getting the ferry across was very easy (Sophors gave us detailed directions) and it was fun to feel like a local and get off the tourist trail. Pick up from the ferry was super easy and we went to the local market and family garden which was great to see (we chopped off banana leaves to steam our food in). Then to the family home where we made Chicken Amouk from scratch (there was the option to do a fish one if we wanted but we chose chicken). The whole family is there and is extremely welcoming and friendly and it was really fun to cook together. The food was delicious and so filling. Then drop off at the ferry was easy and it was pretty to see the lights of Phnom Penh on the way home. Highly recommend, just go ahead and book it, you will be so pleased you did!

Amazing - Sophosyim was fantastic. We were met at the port, taken to her local market where w bought ingredients to cook the most amazing traditional food. We were very much welcomed into her family and local ways. If you want a taste of real Cambodia, this is it. Thank you very much.

Truly local experience, amazing food - Sophors and her family excelled in their teachings, the recipies were amazing and very easy to follow. Personally I have worked as a chef and found the her incredibly knowledgeable and very willing to answer my many questions. Additionally, my friend accompanied me on this excursion and though he is a much more beginner cook, also said he gained a lot from the experience. Her home and garden are captivating and her hospitality was relentless. This was an amazing experience I will always hold dear to my heart.

Authentic native and great! - It was a very great experience and the hostess is very warm. She informed us in advance exactly how to get to the meeting point and picked us up at the ferry port. Together we went first to the market where we bought the ingredients for the food. She answered all our questions about various foods and explained a lot to us. Afterwards we continued to their garden where we harvested the remaining ingredients. The tuktuk then went to the house where the cooking was done. At first we could make ourselves comfortable on the sofa with a drink while she and her family made some preparations. Then it was time to cook: we peeled, sliced, fried, mortared and explained a lot about the preparation method. The sometimes exhausting cooking work was rewarded with an excellent and more than sufficient meal. During the meal, the hostess told us a lot about her career and her family. After about 4.5h we were again taken by tuktuk to the ferry port where this beautiful evening ended. We were a group of only 4 people, which was very pleasant and harmonious.

A must do trip for an authentic cooking class - This was an amazing lesson, a trip in the ferry over was a really good experience and you get to see Phnom Penh from a very different prospective joining Kmere’s about their daily buisness We were joined at the ferry and taken on a trip round the market tasting the different herbs and coconut water. I’m vegan and so I was catered for with swapping out ingredients and we used Tofu, sweet potato and aubergine as the main ingredients instead of meat or fish We then went to the garden to get the herbs, vegetables and picked them We went to the house which is beautiful and cooked the meal from scratch learning about all the ingredients and how to use them to make sauces The main meal was served with all the family around a massive table We had Tofu Amok, salt and pepper Tofu with Shisho leaves and a smoked aubergine dip served with rice For afters we had a sweet potato and sugar desert. The food we had was delicious and authentic some of which I’ve not I’ve not tasted before
