Sisowath Riverside Park - Starting Point! We’ll meet you at the hotel lobby floor, then invite you to explore the fascinating sights of Phnom Penh city listed below:
-
Royal Palace - Our first stop is the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, where you’ll witness the legendary yellow buildings and the royal family’s residence. The palace complex serves as the official royal residence of Cambodia’s King and his family. Its full name in Khmer is Preah Barom Reacheaveang Chaktomuk Serey Mongkol. Cambodian monarchs have resided here since its construction in the 1860s. The palace was built between 1866 and 1870 after King Norodom moved the royal capital from Oudong city. The Silver Pagoda, located south of the Royal Palace, is a must-visit for those interested in Buddhism and holds great cultural and religious significance.
-
National Museum - Our second stop is the National Museum, an art gallery that showcases Cambodian art from the pre-Angkor Wat period to the present day. We’ll spend about an hour here.
-
Wat Phnom - Our third stop is Wat Phnom Hill, where you can enjoy fresh air, see the US embassy, and meet fortune tellers. The name Phnom Penh originates from this hill, the highest in the city. We’ll spend about 45 minutes here.
-
Statue of King Father Norodom Sihanouk - Our fourth stop is the monument of King Father Norodom Sihanouk, a significant figure in Cambodian history. We’ll spend about 30 minutes here.
-
Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - Our fifth stop is the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, formerly a prison known as S-21. This site offers a deep understanding of the brutal regime that affected every Cambodian, including the royal family. We’ll spend about 90 minutes here.
-
Choeung Ek Genocidal Center - Our sixth stop is the Choeung Ek Killing Fields. Between 1975 and 1978, around 20,000 people who had been detained and tortured at S-21 were transported here for execution. Today, it is a peaceful place where visitors can learn about the atrocities that occurred. Admission includes an excellent audio tour available in several languages. We’ll spend about 45 minutes here.
-
Russian Market - Our eighth stop is the Russian Market, known locally as Phsar Toul Tom Pong. The market got its name in the 1980s when Russians living in Phnom Penh preferred shopping here. The market offers a wide range of items, including street food, clothes, cosmetics, souvenirs, and motorcycle parts. We’ll spend about 60 minutes here.
-
Sisowath Riverside Park - Finally, we’ll return to Sisowath Riverside Park and take you back to your hotel. We hope to see you again next time.
