Highlights
  • Choeung Ek Genocidal Center - Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles south of Phnom Penh. The notorious killing fields have a tragic history. Once an orchard and a Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot, transformed the area into the killing fields, where approximately 20,000 victims were executed. Over three years, they massacred and buried 2.5 million people. After paying respects to the deceased, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning “hill of the poisonous trees,” Pol Pot converted a once-popular high school into a high-security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today, it serves as a museum and a reminder of darker days. Your guide will return you to your hotel or guesthouse. - Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - The most infamous of the 189 known interrogation centers in Cambodia was S-21, housed in a former school and now called Tuol Sleng for the hill on which it stands. Between 14,000 and 17,000 prisoners were detained and tortured there, often in primitive brick cells built in former classrooms.

Starting my trip in... - Starting my trip in Cambodia I thought it was important to learn more about the history of the country and this tours was the perfect introduction. This tour is not for the faint hearted its gruesome and quite overwhelming to hear about and see the mass torture and killing but my guide Neang was very understanding of this and was genuinely happy to answer any questions. My driver Huot was perfectly on time and transport was very comfortable with plenty of water provided.

Fantastic insight into one of humanity’s worst tragedies - The excellent guide, Neang, made this experience so informative and interesting. It was masterfully shown and explained, and despite the very sensitive subject matter, the tour was an outstanding way of learning about the tragedy. I can only recommend it!

Killing fields and genocide museum. - Educational and sobering trip to killing fields and Genocide museum. ‘Ran’ was an excellent tour guide who was very knowledgable, also with a personal emotional connection. Great value for money and all questions answered. We also felt honoured to personally meet survivors at the museum. Many thanks.

An incredible but harrowing experience anyone visiting Cambodia should see and understand - What a sobering experience it was seeing the Killing Fields and the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum which was the site of the S21 Prison Camp. The atrocities of the Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge regime are indescribable. Our guide Neang was a wonderful historian who spoke to his own families’ experiences and indeed his own. Neang was incredibly open, emotional and willing to answer any questions we had. He even introduced us to two survivors of The S21 camp. This was an incredible experience. A devastatingly sad and horrific history that anyone visiting Cambodia should experience to see and understand.

Really insightful tour with Neang - We had a really educational morning with Neang on a tour of the killing fields and the genocide museum. The Khmer rouge’s reign was truly horrid and I am thankful to Neang for being so open and honest sharing his personal experiences. I feel I have learnt a lot from the tour and it is definitely something I recommend. Neang somehow still managed to make us all laugh with his humour throughout the tour a a great tour guide.
