Informative tour & excellent guide - Our guide was excellent. Good communication, pick up on time but most if all prepared us for the tour and what harrowing things we would see. His knowledge was outstanding and gave us an understanding of the atrocities their people and country went through. Although it was extremely sad, it is a must when in Phnom Penh.

A moving experience - Was a really moving expirience. Our tour guide Mr Ohm was fantastic, and did a great job of explaining the history of the killing fields and s-21. He was a small child during the Khmer Rouge, and it was fascinating to hear about his experiences during the late 70's. Definitely a must do while in Phenom Penh. The pickup and drop off was super easy as well, and communication from the tour guide was great.

Somber yet required - As others have said, a must do on your list. That said, it is confronting that this happened not that long ago and that there are still survivors. Our guide (Neang) was able to provide personal (family) insights that made the events that occurred even more impactful.

Essential - What an incredible experience! Moving, harrowing, breathtaking, fascinating - I cannot recommend this enough to anyone visiting Phnom Penh. It’s absolutely essential to understanding Cambodia’s modern history, and to understanding the effects on the Cambodia you experience today. Our guide - Samat - spoke wonderful English and was so deeply knowledgeable. He so clearly laid out the events leading up to the genocide, rich with machinations and motivations and conflict, that gave such a rich additional context to what we were seeing. A towering stupa stacked with skulls alone is something to behold, but with the additional historical texture provided by Samat, it feels less disembodied, and feels instead much more richly accessible for the impact it has had on Cambodia. To visit Phnom Penh and not do this tour would be to miss an opportunity to understand the Cambodia around you. Just essential!

A lot of cruelty in one place. - A lesson in how cruelty can be done to an entire people. Khmer Rouge execution site during the dark years in Cambodia 1975 - 1979. Here people were murdered and thrown into mass graves. A cruel place but useful to see and discouraged.

Very good but too short for us - Site to do absolutely to understand the history of the Khmer Rouge, audio guide essential and very well done. However, watch out for the tuk tuk that offer to take you to s21 and killing field, it is far away so you have to be quick, we did not have time to do all the visit of s21, allow at least 2 hours and 1 hour 30 for killing field.

A MUST IN PHNOM PENH! - An incredible learning opportunity for all visitors/foreigners. Although the day/topic was heavy, it is a must for visitors to PP! Our guide, Om, recounted this horrible history (Khmer Rouge period) that he lived through! As difficult as it is for him to recount these terrors , he acknowledges how important it is for foreigners and younger generations to never forget what happened to them. This was an incredibly emotional day and we are so grateful to our guide for his dedication and time to share this with us.
