We commence our exploration of this captivating capital city at Wat Phnom, the location that is the genesis of the Phnom Penh Capital. Our journey continues with a stop at the Royal Palace, a magnificent edifice constructed in 1866 by King Norodom. A host of breathtaking temples exist within the palace, the Silver Pagoda being a notable one. A tour of the Silver Pagoda is a must, its flooring consisting of 5,000 silver tiles being a standout feature. Residing inside is an Emerald Buddha, adorned with 9,584 diamonds. Finally, we head to the National Museum, the home to hundreds of fascinating artifacts, spanning both pre-and post-Angkorian periods.
