Apsara Dance Performance
In a traditional theater setting, attendees will enjoy an Apsara dance, a traditional dance of the Kingdom of Cambodia that dates back to the 7th century. This dance is experiencing a rapid revival after being banned and brutally suppressed by the Khmer Rouge regime under Pol Pot, during which 90% of the dancers and musicians were killed. An Apsara is a female spirit in Buddhist and Hindu mythology. Apsara dancers are young, graceful, and dressed in traditional costumes. Their movements primarily emphasize the hands and feet, narrating a story where each hand gesture symbolizes key steps in the cycle of nature.
