Amazing Silk Island Tour - My friend and I took this Half Day Tour on October 27th and we had a great time. Our guide, Vutiy, was wonderful. He was always smiling, friendly, and very knowledgeable. We were served drinks and a fruit platter while cruising on the river and got a chance to see the people that live on the river and on boats. We walked around the island with Vutiy as he explained various things such as burial practices, info on monks, etc. Once at the Silk community, we saw several women work on looms as Vutiy provided information on the silk process from start to finish. We even got to touch the silk worm cocoons. Before we left the island, we were given the opportunity to buy items at the Silk Shop. I had to purchase several items as they were too beautiful not too. Do yourself a favor and book this tour! I highly recommend it!

Amazing Tour of the Silk Island and the Stupas - The tour guide and the people on the boat were so friendly and helpful as they served us drinks both before and after the island, and served us freshly cut fruit on our return back (which was delicious and a highlight of the trip). The tour allowed us to experience more of the island, including the stupas and religious site nearby and the trees/plants. The tour of the Silk section was the best one I've been to re: the production of silk and weaving. Also had plenty of time to shop for beautiful silk items. This was such a fun tour and I would highly recommend.

Impressive tour of Silk Island and Mekong - My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our boat trip on the Mekong River. My favorite part was the visit to Silk Island and seeing the local village life. We met a school of amazing children learning English. Seeing the entire process of creating a hand-made silk scarf from growing the Mulberry plants to weaving the silk into a piece of fabric was impressive. The ladies who expertly weave the silk into stunning patterns are a treasure to the craft, since the skill to do this type of work is being lost in our modern world.

Our personal experience - We were welcomed aboard by Davuth, our tour guide for the day. He was full of knowledge about rhe rivers, country, culture and history. He was very attentive and kept us well hydrated! We visited a elementary school class on the Island. The children were adorable!. You could tell their teacher was very devoted to them. Davuth stopped at local places in the communities to get fried bananas, palm wine and local fruits for us to try. At the Silk farm we were amazed at how labor intensive the silk making process is from start to finish. The colors are beautiful! Our local guide was great. Our experience felt very personal and fulfilling. On the return cruise we all enjoyed the fruits and beverages as well as the beautiful sights. We highly encourage visitors to book this experience.

Cruise operators make the trip worthwhile - The people who run the cruise are wonderful and did an amazing service. Showing us around the Island and explaining a few things. The let down was actually at the change over at the entrance of Silk Island centre. Rushing us through to buy stuff and then asking for a tip (which we would have tipped anyway) is not the polite way to do things. However, once back in the care of the cruise people we were made happy again.

Not the greatest - We were the only 2 people on the boat, the guide tried hard but his english not so good, having done this tour some years ago, I was not impressed with the locations provided, the Temple was a smaller one and the Village was just a drive through, although we did get some delicious sweet potato scallops from a roadside vendor. The weaving village was interesting with a local guide explaining, there were several looms operating with silk weavings available for sale which were quite expensive, We returned to the boat and had some fruit on the way back, arriving 1 hour early, It was an OK tour. certainly not up to our previous standard, the guide was knowlegable and plesant

boring and long - Did not enjoy. firstly, we were picked up by a rude tuk tuk driver from our hotel who was upset that we were a few mins late, despite being the only ones on the tour. Tour guide was lovely but in summary, the tour consisted of a 45min boat road to a small island, followed by a boring 20 min talk about temples, then a short tuk tuk ride to a small section of the island where there are several silk looms. A guy walked us around for about 10 minutes showing us the looms but no one to explain how it is done, little explanation made then urged us to by silk scarfs at a much higher price than the markets. then we returned.
