- Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - A tour guide and driver pick you up at the hotel lobby and take you to visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the memorial site of the S-21 interrogation and detention center of the Khmer Rouge regime, located in the heart of Phnom Penh. It preserves a tragic period in history with the aim of encouraging visitors to become messengers of peace. Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is the memorial site of “Security Office 21” (S-21) of Democratic Kampuchea (also known as the Khmer Rouge regime) and is located in what was then the abandoned city of Phnom Penh, whose citizens had been evacuated on April 17, 1975. S-21 served as the central hub of a vast prison system throughout the country and was used as a secret facility for the detention, interrogation, torture, and extermination of those deemed “political enemies” of the regime.
- Choeung Ek Genocidal Center - After that, we travel about 15km southwest of Phnom Penh to arrive at Choeung Ek. The memorial at Choeung Ek, just outside Phnom Penh, was an orchard and a Chinese cemetery prior to 1975. During the Khmer Rouge regime, it became one of the killing fields, the site of the brutal executions of more than 17,000 individuals, most of whom first suffered through torture and deprivation in Tuol Sleng Prison. Choeung Ek is now a group of mass graves and a memorial stupa containing thousands of skulls.

The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum stands as a solemn remembrance for the S-21 interrogation and detention complex utilized by the Khmer Rouge. Moreover, the Choeung Ek memorial, found on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, was once an orchard and also served as a Chinese burial ground before 1975. Under the Khmer Rouge rule, it was transformed into one of the notorious extermination grounds, where over 17,000 individuals encountered their end following extensive suffering from torture and neglect at Toul Sleng Prison. Presently, Choeung Ek comprises several mass burial sites and a commemorative stupa filled with innumerable skulls.
