An awesome experience - This was an absolutely amazing experience! I'm SO glad I did it. I am far from an experienced hiker, and I was very concerned about whether or not I could do this hike. Physically, if you're in good shape, this is definitely something you're capable of. But if you're not an experienced hiker, and if you're not familiar with this type of hiking, I recommend getting a guide. My guide was Kyndle, and I absolutely love her. She was super encouraging and reassuring. She even advised other inexperienced hikers who were on their own. You can tell she does this because she enjoys it and wants people to be safe. Do this. You will be so proud of yourself!

Epic Camelback Hike Experience—Highly Recommend! - What an incredible adventure! This trek up Camelback Mountain was everything I hoped for and more, thanks to Elizabeth, my amazing guide. From start to finish, Liz provided excellent trekking instructions, ensuring I felt confident and safe every step of the way. Her storytelling and knowledge about the area made the hike so much richer—her passion for the desert landscape is infectious! The investment in having Liz as my guide was worth every cent. Her expertise, encouragement, and insights made the experience not just a hike, but an unforgettable journey. And she knew the BEST shots and took them all which is invaluable when travelling solo. For anyone considering this trek, I couldn’t recommend it more highly. If you’re looking to explore Camelback Mountain with someone who knows it inside out and brings the adventure to life, book with Mad Desert Treks—you won’t regret it!

My best friend and I had... - My best friend and I had the most amazing hike for our annual birthday getaway weekend trip on 12/7, and we can’t stop talking about it! Mike guided us through one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences we have had during our 40-year friendship! We loved hearing about the history, wildlife, and geography of Phoenix and Camelback, and we truly appreciated the encouragement and motivation during our trek. We absolutely LOVE the many beautiful and fun pics that Mike took during our trip, especially the ones while in action and at the summit. We were so thrilled to see an athletic Santa at the summit, and hikers there even sang Happy Birthday to us! It’s hard to completely describe the sense of accomplishment, elation, and joy in nature we felt! We can honestly say this is one of the best experiences we’ve shared as lifelong friends, and we plan to do it again next year.

First time hiking with Mike Hopkins - Our Camelback hike guide Mike Hopkins took us on an amazing tour up Camelback. Mike was very patient and encouraging to work with. He not only told great Phoenix historic stories; but Mike shared about the importance of feeling confident hiking Camelback. With Mike we were able to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the mountain. Our biggest takeaway was the time Mike shared with us explaining the Native American History of the landscape. We definitely would recommend Mike to anyone who wants to learn and have a great time hiking Camelback.

Challenging, rewarding, and joyful hike - My best friend and I had the most amazing hike with Mike this morning for our annual birthday weekend trip, and we can’t stop talking about it! Definitely will go again! - The camelback mountain hike was phenomenal! Our guide Mike was pleasant and patient and made the trip exceptional! We had no idea what we were getting into…this hike has some challenging areas. But, the experience was unforgettable and we were led by the perfect guide to get us to the top!

My Guide John was fantastic. He reached out a couple of days before the hike to connect and help me plan for it - then was just a joy to spend time with on the hike. Epic Hike on Camelback! - My 17 year old son and I hiked Camelback for the first time. John was an awesome guide, and made the experience much better. We felt more comfortable and he was engaging and informative. It was a great experience and now we can’t wait to do it again.
