This trek in the Drakensberg leads you to the highest peak in South Africa, Sentinel Peak, and the top of the Tugela Falls, the tallest waterfall in the world at 948 meters. The summit reaches 3100 meters above sea level, offering views of Mount Aux and the Amphitheater. The hiking trail is thrilling, featuring two paths to the top - the Sentinel Gorge route, ideal for experienced or fit hikers, and the chain ladder, which is challenging yet more accessible.
This is a dream for hikers and a demanding trek that can take up to 9 hours round trip. The hike package is all-inclusive, covering transport from Johannesburg or Pretoria to Witsieshoek, one night’s accommodation at the hotel, the hike itself, and return transport to Johannesburg. An alternative option includes camping overnight on the mountain, which is extreme due to potential dramatic weather changes at this altitude.
