Great day out - We booked the 3 hours trip outside the hotel we are staying in the Golf del Sur area. The trip included bus, food, drinks and a guaranteed spotting of whales plus a stop to swim in the ocean by the Diego Hernandez Bay. The crew were excellent, polite and helpful. They approached the whales slowly not to startle them, but they seemed to be happy with our presence and swam very close to the catamaran and we sailed slowly around them. They were really close to the boat and that alone made the experience worth it. The food (paella, chicken nuggets, chips) was ok and plentiful, and had plenty of soft drinks to last the trip. If there is one downside to this is the net area seems to work on first come first serve basis and we missed out on it. It is the key thing you’d associate with a catamaran trip.

A walk you'll remember - The 3 hour walk is ideal, a nice walk on the coast of Tenerife, the atmosphere of the boat pleasant, the attentive and friendly crew, on our route we manage to see Calderon dolphins (a show), during the tour you enjoy drinks on board and food (depending on the menu you choose: rice with chicken, vegetarian or children. You must inform when you confirm your Reservation), a stop in front of Diego Hernández Beach, one of the most beautiful in the South of Tenerife, there you can take a bath or rest on board, then a beautiful return to port.

GOOD CATAMARAN - It was our second experience with Maxicat and as in the previous one, we were very satisfied. We like it better than its competitor -Freebird. The crew is friendly and reports everything in detail. The rice they offer is not bad either, although the drinks are not cold enough to hide their 'non-original' taste. We'll be back.

An absolutely stunning day - What a fantastic trip. Myself and my wife went on this trip and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We saw the whales, had a swim. Decent food with plenty to drink. Gabriel was an absolute legend. Very informative.

Disappointing - We have been on this trip today and I can’t deny it was disappointing. Had done similar trip many years ago (pre kids) and enjoyed so expected the same. Bus picked us up first so we did couple of hotel stops but reached harbour 20 minutes before start time. There were 8 in our group, 3 teens and 1 aged 79 who walks with a stick. We weren’t told where to go but found the Maxi-cat jetty and stood there for 40 minutes in the blazing sun. Even when the cat turned up, there was a delay getting on because of every passenger group was stopped for a photo. Luckily we skipped that as we couldn’t stand in the area with our less mobile passenger but we then realised that sitting together was not going to be possible. Every seat was taken with exception of single/maybe 2 together, which is no good when you are a family of 8. It felt like far too many people to sit comfortably. As they took us out to sea, the bar opened but it was so choppy and rammed with people, you were either falling on them or standing on their feet to get a drink. By the time we stopped for the whales my 13 year old had lost interest and didn’t want to look at them. Then the food was served. Allegedly chicken nuggets and chips for kids, which were in fact, cheese croquets and fries. Not touched by my child and she had no interest in paella with olives in so ended up eating my bread roll. When we arrived at the spot for swimming, my daughter decided against it, though her cousins went in and enjoyed. We then headed back to the harbour by 4pm so the 3 hour trip was in fact more like 2 hours with the late getting on, followed by photos. The worst thing was that our 79 year old with mobility issues couldn’t use the toilet. Both men and ladies WC were down a steep ladder. We are disappointed that neither the rep who sold us the trip or the staff who were seeing us on board felt the need to inform us. This is particularly troublesome as he is on water tablets that means he needs to use the toilet more often. To top it off, when we left the cat, we had to find a toilet but the bus driver rolled her eyes at us because we had to make them wait. Good job we didn’t ask him to wait until we got to our hotel as we were then taken on a 90 minute trip dropping everyone else off before we reached our hotel (which is about 15 minutes from harbour). They seem to have rammed most of the cat passengers onto one bus rather than sending two in different directions. We spent as much time on the bus as we did the cat.

Moderate, this is not about digging dolphins and whales! - Very mediocre tour, next time we would absolutely not go with this! English was not understandable, so instructions etc. are not clear. That makes everything very chaotic. There's a lot of smoking on the boat. Now this is okay, if it is indicated in advance where the smoking zone is. During the trip this was announced and then you appear to be in the middle of the smoking zone... Staff smoke everywhere on the boat. Ladies toilet was clogged, men's toilet was packed. While swimming in a bay they tried to see fish (bread was thrown into the water) resulting in 6 bored seagulls. Drinking is free, as well as paella with chicken for the adults and fries for the children, an ice cream in there against that you have to pay for. We would pay more next time for a more exclusive tour and more attention for whale and dolphin watching because that is what it is all about. This was too commercial for us....very unfortunate

Awful attitude to people. - It was awful. The only positive thing was that we saw the whales and dolphins and but I couldn’t enjoy the trip because I was absolutely mad with the service, I was asked by the staff to move from the place where my family sit because the stroller with my sleeping baby blocked the pass to the bar. So why not to inform us before we embark where we could sit with a baby? Instead of asking us to move in the middle of the trip when there was none empty space with shade left. By the way, we were in the first 10 people to come to the boat so we could choose any other place but nobody informed us. Toilet is disgusting and full of urine 🤢 a lot of vomiting people around you so if you are sensitive , you will join them soon 🤮 Food- paella was ok but chips and nuggets (just for kids ) was of lowest quality ever tasted by me, I was hungry as hell but couldn’t eat them. But the ticket seller told us about sandwiches which were much more appropriate type of food for moving catamaran (plates with rice were falling and there was no discernible where to put the place). Drinks were fresh and nice. Later the technician (sorry forgot the name) tried to help us with finding the place and was very nice to us but in general the impression after the trip was - the company just making money without thinking of people … specially in the end the ugly guide was hinting to leave the tips with the bucket of coins. Sorry … you don’t deserve a penny with your attitude to people.

Horrendous experience not what we paid for or wanted or you advertised - We booked this trip as it was advertised. Whale and Dolphin watching trip. We ended up on a trip which the crew turned into a loud boisterous party boat trip which went on for 3 horrendous hours. There were only 6 English speaking guests on board with about 30 Spanish speaking who were celebrating a birthday on board. No consideration was given to the young 5 or 6 year old son of one the couples who was very distressed by the boisterous carry on on board. We saw no whales or dolphins and it is no shock with the noise on board. This went on continually for 3 torturous hours. On speaking to the booking agent she was very understanding but it was out of her hands to act on it as she simply did her job and sold us the trip MAXICAT advertised. She tried to call the service line as we complained the following day and they had the audacity to hang up not once but twice and then ignore the calls. A refund was requested and so far my contact is being ignored. We were offered a repeat trip on the day we were flying home. So buyer beware, this is a dubious company and my advice, choose a better boat with a more respectable company.
