Great way to experience Mexican Cuisine. - There were only 7 of us total on the tour. We were able to walk to and from the location from downtown Playa Del Carmen. We had a great time making tortillas. Alma was awesome.

Very delicious food! - Alma was such an inviting host and instructor. I appreciated how she simplified the process of making the food while not sacrificing the flavor. I think we can actually replicate what we learned. And the food was delicious…the best we had in Mexico!

Homestyle Vibes At A Hands On Cooking Class - During our recent trip to Playa del Carmen, my wife and I had the pleasure of taking a cooking class with Chef Alma, and it was an absolute highlight of our visit. Chef Alma was incredibly accommodating and shared a fascinating history lesson about Mexican cuisine and its ties to Playa del Carmen. The class was highly interactive, ensuring that everyone could participate and enjoy the experience. We learned to make homemade tortillas, tamales, and rajas con papas—potatoes and poblanos in cream—all from scratch. The recipes were delicious, and the techniques were approachable yet authentic. Chef Alma’s passion for her craft was evident, and her teaching style made the session both educational and fun. If you’re visiting Playa del Carmen, I can’t recommend this cooking class enough—it’s a perfect way to immerse yourself in the local culture and cuisine.

Fantastic Cooking Experience! - We had a fantastic cooking experience with Alma - she was so friendly and kind and shared so much knowledge about the food and history of Mexico. We both said it is clear Alma is passionate about celebrating Mexico and its cuisine. The class was very interactive and felt like preparing a family meal at home with everyone chipping in to help. The final result was delicious and we left confident we can recreate our fantastic meal at home. Mucho Gracias Alma!

BEST COOKING EXPERIENCE EVER - We had an absolutely wonderful time cooking with Alma in Playa Del Carmen. A less than 20 minute inexpensive taxi ride from Grand Velas Resort! This was our second visit with her and we had a group of four kids, ages 10 to 17, my husband and me, plus grandma! Our kids went on and on about how this is their favorite activity of all of our vacation activities! Alma lights up the room with her warmth and kindness. She did such a great job explaining everything about the history of the area while we started to dive into our cooking fun. We made blue corn tortillas from scratch, the most delicious chicken tinga, chili pasilla, and birria from scratch! we had the most incredible meal—a taco symphony!— we literally have ever had and we can’t wait to come back. We ate sooooo much. tipped off with fried plantains and ice cream with caramel sauce. oh and the mole last year was EXTRAORDINARY AS WELL! The best part is that we get all of the recipes so that we can attempt to create this masterpiece at home. The kids are already asking me to do so. Wish me luck. Alma is a genius in the kitchen. Thank you, Alma and Gladys! You made our vacation extra special.

Fun morning of cooking - We really enjoyed our cooking class on Wednesday morning. We felt privileged to be invited into your kitchen and not only get the lesson but learn a few secret tips that we will definitely use from now on. We also enjoyed the listening to the history of Play Del Carmen.
